Hi, I've just scanned my 02' Golf GTi MK4 8V with Vagcom and the below results appeared.
I'm used to wealeding a spanner and a laptop so I'm willing to get my hands dirty to fix all the faults.
I still own a MK3 golf GTI 8v too! (slowly becoming Rusty f**ker)

Anyway what I'm concerned with is, what will be likely to fail an MOT?
Plus she's been sat for a few month's.
Cheers :)

Brake switch is most likely as your brake lights might not be working; located under the brake pedal and about £15 from the dealers

Have you cleared the codes, driven it and then seen what's come back??

Most of those are simply low battery faults which if its been sat a while are not surprising

Clear the codes, drive it and then re-scan; that could save you a lot of money as I suspect most won't reappear

  • VCDS and VCP - fault codes, coding, VIM activation
Brake switch is clear.

Cat not being efficient could be one of the two sensors, or cat is failing.

Intermittent supply voltage can normally be cleared but may be indicator that your battery is on way out.

The implausible signal on front driver side lock is a faulty micro switch in lock, you need to take lock out, remove old microswitch, solder wires to a new switch then align and glue it in. Can post part number for micro switch if you need. (switch is 4£ - new lock is 40£ - 2nd hand lock may have same issue so I'd recommend to get switch not a lock :D )

Thanks for the reply's, I managed to get under the car today for a few hours  I gave it a oil change inc filter, checked the spark plugs, they need replacing, cleared all the codes, the battery terminals were also loose for some reason, then gave the car a short drive on private land i must add. So far, not a single code has re-appeared. So I can book it in for an MOT next week and hope the cat fault doesn't appear again? And realised the rear wiper jet is blocked! I have more to do it seems.. Oh and the brake lights work as they should, that code was a ghost i reckon?

Hi, Today I thought i'd scan the ecu with vagcom to see what code if any might re-appear?
Nothing of any importance, such as the cat etc..

But vagcom did tell mee this:

But the main diagnstic isn't telling me anything like it did before?

Also the exhaust now smokes white under acceleration when upto correct temp!

Any idea's???

Cheer's :)
