Happy with that.
Thanks ever so much Darren.
Can't wait to get the stuff.
Whenever you are ready.

Great list........it prevents the sickening experience I have had to go through...

I thought someone on here got the iPhone working with the VW kit. :undecided:
-
Just a note on BlackBerrys. If you have a corporate device attached to a BES server, by default the server policy disables "Serial Port Profile>SIM Access Profile" - If you find your corporate device doesnt connect, then ask your IT dept's BES administrator to change it (if he's allowed.)
Consumer devices connected over BIS wont have this restriction.

Yes, but not with the premuim bluetooth kit, you have to do what I did and exchange the control unit for a 729 version
-
This is all Greek to a novice like me.
I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 and an iPhone 3GS.
I use the Crackberry all the time and it is not a Corporate phone.
I don't want the microphone sticking out of the 'A' pillar.
So I suppose I have to get the VW kit.
Darren will set it up so it should be ok.
Still waiting for p3eps to do his thing with the FISCON microphone in the overhead ight housing.
O deary, dreary me!
-
^^^ Then a VW 729C or D is what you want.

Thanks.
Darren will obviously check this out and know about this.
He is testing out a friend's Bold 9700 sometime soon. Great guy.

^^^ Then a VW 729C or D is what you want.
There seems to be a new E version also, do you know if that works to ?
Also, if you dont have a BT kit from the start, are the wires there so you can install one or do you need to install all the wireing also ?
Thanks

Yes the E version works too (that's the version I have in mine now).
If your car wasn't pre-wired for bluetooth then a plug and play harness is required, most of the main sellers of the kits include this

Are you satisfied with the VW Premium kit?
Which phone do you use?
Hope you don't mind me asking.

^^^ I removed the factory Premium rSAP Kit (part number 730) and replaced it with the 729 Standard Bluetooth (with uses the much more widely supported Hands Free Profile).
I use this kit a Blackberry 8310 (work phone) or iPhone 3GS.
Have also successfully tried a couple of HTC's, the Blackberry Storm, Pearl and Bold plus a few Nokia's like the 5200, N95, N97.

I was getting into a bit of state about all this.
Darren will probably order the 729 Standard Bluetooth kit.
I'll suggest this to him tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.
Your knowledge is invaluable.

So then you need to fit these cables from under the passanger seat all the way to the RNS510 unit ?
Removing panels, trim etc...sounds a bit tricky...has anyone done it ?
Also since i have a voice control Navi i was hoping to be able to re-use that Mic for the BT handsfree also...
/I
-
^^^ It's easy enough to build in the VC for the RNS with the OEM bluetooth, the pins for the mic in and mic out are labeled on the connector B on the back on the RNS.
It takes me around 30mins to remove the trm panels to be able to install the bluetooth kit
-
Steve most of the new BT looms come with VC already pre wired so no need for extra wires now
Takes about 30 mins has Steve said I think Daves Scirocco took me less but some of the trim isn't screwed in so it just pulls off and on.

New BT kit on the way, at least for the US market, and probably for retrofit.

Already available but not sure if it will intergrate with the RNS like the premium, the part number is 7P6 035 730C and its the 9W7 package. I bet its a basic low module and doesn't show details on the RNS??

I doubt that this new improved version would not do stuff that any of the previus does, will likely work fine with RNS510 as well as the RNS310.
-
I have a VW basic module which I originally bought all it does is mute the RNS510 no MFA+ menu or RNS510 intergration...thats a 1K8 module HT3 the Premium VW kit is HT2 and has full integration,
The 7P6 kit will have no intergration but will activate the BT audio in the media source on the RNS510.

Collected my new Golf last weekend after waiting months for the extra which included the premium Bluetooth. Cancelled my iphone when I realised it wasnt going to be compatible, managed to connect my Blackberry Bold 9700 some how entering 7777 8888 9999 0000 as the password, though how I got there i'll never know as I was trying for hours after leaving the garage at handover, with bemused looks on the salesmens faces.
Got a new Blackberry, Storm 2.....same problems as I was having with the Bold.
Anyone got the solution?
Cheers Dano

Blackberry and Iphone are not compatible with the VW Premium carkit.....
Maybe after several attemps you get something like a connection but you will never have a steady situation...
On that basis I bought the Nokia E-72 and it works like a charm
-
Hmmmmm, cheers.
The Bold worked perfectly....but, looks like that car kit was a waste of kin £s!

...yepp...it sounds and costs "advanced" but it is not.....you should try its ringtones....pathetique

Well I have some good news, I've heard from a very reliable source in VW that there is a new premium kit coming out which combines the Rsap and UHV of the Skoda kit, Apparently the Skoda kit will be kicked into touch and the Vw premium kit will basically be all singing all dancing work with every thing kind of kit... It will work with the red and white display aswell,
It's suppose to be coming out next month so once I find out what package kit it is ill let you all know.
Darren
-
...I nearly would demand a call-back-action for installing a proper one...
Anyway when it works it is fun to get it to operate phone/media/nav after several spoken commands....
A pro-owner can do ALL the actions of the RNS510 without touching the screen.....and for me it gives a better look than a greasy screen...

I did, I purchased a pre coded module from the guys at Carsystems.pl and they shipped a precoded unit that just plugged straight in and worked!

Did you mount a new mic or could you use the original RNS510 voice control mic ?
I want to order this kit (or the new one) and want to use the facoty mounted mic i have with my RNS510.

Blackberry and Iphone are not compatible with the VW Premium carkit.....
Been using a Bold 9700 with mine since day one though I do confess it hasn't been trouble free. Every once in awhile I loose connection and the only way to get things working again is to take the battery out of the phone and then reboot the phone. When connected it works like a charm. Fingers crossed it has been 3 weeks now since I have needed to do a reboot of the phone!
-
Right the new kit is the part number I gave on a previous page  Its apparently Rsap and UHV so works with all phones but its also the premium so will give red and white display info and RNS510 compatible.

Hi Darren, have you seen this kit working as yet as the only listings I can find for the 730C still says rSap only ???
-
Odd the VW doesnt work with the iPhone as the one in my S3 works? Why didnt they just use the same kit in both?
-
Steve not seen it working but got one on order, may be in my new car soon along with my new LED screen RNS
All I'm saying is its another VW, bigger, white and has CC on the rear

I'm in the states.
I received a 9W7 (7P6-035-730-C) today that will replace the 9W2 which came with my 2010 Jetta 2.5L Tip.
FYI...it is an exact size replacement for the 9W2...including an internal BT antenna.
I've plugged it in but don't know how to code it yet as Vag-Com (VCDS) doesn't recognize it. The RNS-510 doesn't see a cell phone connected.
Anyone have suggestions?
Jack
-
My suspicions where correct then I didn't think this would be a replacement for the premium kit although I was advised it was going to be
Mr Timewise I presume by you saying its replacing the 9W2 then you will have module 77 in VCDS, although it would be worth checking in the Can Gateway if Mod 77 is activated?
Can you get into the 9W2 module on VCDS any problems with that if not It could be that the 9W7 module is wired differently??
Darren

Darren,
I now have everything working with the 9W7, identified as module 77 in VCDS. Yes, I originally had a 9W2 in the US delivered 2010 Jetta SE 2.5L Tiptronic gasser. The replacement was truly plug and play...no re-wiring, no re-coding. I bought the 9W7 via a VW dealer in the states so I assume when they took delivery from VW the 9W7 was already coded correctly for English (Ok, American English  )
I had to do two things: First I needed to link the telephone to the system. Second, using VCDS I had to re-code the MFSW to add "Push-To-Talk". My steering wheel was coded as 0001631, and is now 0001831. (The steering wheel was from a 2009 Passat CC. I also installed a 1K0-953-549-CD steering wheel control module in place of the original 1K0-953-549-CP.)
I have an RNS-510 which shows all the phone book info from the phone and the voice control is activated with the microphone button on the MFSW.
Oops..forgot to mention that the 9W7 also allows music from the iPod to be played just as did the 9W2.
-
Hi mr timewise any chance you can get some pics of all the functions, what it gives you on the highline dash and what it gives you on the RNS510?
Cheers your info is greatly appreciated
Darren

I'll post a pic or two of the RNS-510 PHONE screens later today.
The US delivered Jetta Sedan SE's instrument cluster doesn't have a Hi-Line white MFD+ display...the car comes with a Lo-Line white MFD display. The lo-line MFD display shows only a sub-set of the hi-line MFD+ information.
VW advertising shows an "SEL" version of the Jetta Sedan with a Hi-Line display, MFSW, and multi-function trip computer for the US market. But, in fact, they have never delivered such a vehicle within the US market.
When I upgraded to the MFSW, I did get access to the trip computer info, but the Nav data, convenience settings, and radio info was still absent.
The good news is that I actually have in my possession a brand new (zero miles) Hi-Line cluster for my Jetta 2.5L Tiptronic. The installation will require a trip to a very savvy independent who will use "erWin" online to allow the new cluster's immobilizer to be coded to my keys. I've already arranged a visit to such an indie who will do the job. The dealers say the new cluster cannot be installed without also rewiring the car, installing a new Hi-line CECM, and including my first born in the transaction.
In the meantime, I actually installed the new cluster as a trial run. I turned the ignition ON, but did not attempt to start the car so the immobilizer did not kick in. The MFD+ worked great in conjunction with the MFSW controls. In the MFD+ I could see the NAV info, convenience settings, radio info, etc. Tonight I'll reinstall the new cluster, again, to take a photo for you of the phone data on the MFD+.
I don't have an iPhone so I cannot actually listen to music from such a device. But the 9W7 has a voice activation spoken command of "MUSIC" which will allow the playing of recorded music from such a blue tooth source.
BTW...
The new 9W7 cost me $470 delivered.

Sorry, guys, I simply don't know yet. Tomorrow I'll visit a friend who has a bluetooth music source and I'll report back.
Edit June 9, 2010...Sorry, but I haven't had a chance to test for A2DP capability.
Edit June 10, 2010...I have confirmed that a 3G iPhone will connect and download its phonebook to the RNS-510 and MFD+ display. The owner of the iPhone did not have any music recordings saved so I did not test the A2DP music streaming.

Is there any difference between the one Mr time wise is referring to and this version?

VW price is about £340 for the module but it does both white and red highline and all mobiles

The 9W7 is p/n 7P6-035-730-C (at least for the US market) with Hardware 008 and Software 6600.
The 9W2 I had was a 1K8-035-730-C ( Hardware 005; Software 0440) in my US delivered 2010 Jetta SE 2.5L with Tiptronic.
Yes, it seems odd that the part number changes only with the first three characters. My very limited experience was that the first three characters identified which vehicle was intended for the part. The fact that the last digits are all the same was a bit disconcerting to me when I placed the order. But what I received was exactly as I had hoped to get with all the features I wanted.
I'm beginning to wonder if the XXX-035-730-C has simply been updated with new internal hardware and new software.
Here's a picture of the 9W2 label (click for a bigger picture):
(http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/zz320/MrTimewise/9W2/th_DSCN0006.jpg) (http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz320/MrTimewise/9W2/?action=view¤t=DSCN0006.jpg)
I did not take a photo of the 9W7 module before the install. But I can guarantee you that the 7P6-035-730-C is what I installed in my US delivered 2010 Jetta SE 2.5L with Tiptronic.
BTW...I found that with the proper voice commands and just using the PTT (microphone) button that I can even change the "voice tag" for a phonebook entry...without access to the MFD+ menu (because I do not yet have the Hi-line cluster installed). That is, rather than using the "text to speech" reading of my phonebook entries, the 9W7 will allow me to record a new voice tag and play that recording back as it reads the phonebook. This can be a different recording from what is in your actual phone (if you've made a voice tag in your phone).
Also...(this is a clip of a post I made elsewhere...)
The voice commands for the 9W7 are just a bit more sophisticated than those of the 9W3. The 9W7 can read your typed phonebook entries and compare your spoken words to its interpretation of the typed words in your phonebook. Or you can make your own voice tags for a phonebook entry via the MFD+. And the 9W7 can speak your phonebook entries with its "Text to Speech" abilities.
The "Voice Recognition" and "Text to Speech" functions work quite well, although there is one odd anomaly which VW should be embarrassed to have let through their quality control...
When the 9W7 speaks the work "Phone" it says, "Phon-ee." So "Phonebook" or "phone book" become, "Phon-ee-book."
Now you'd think that of all the words they'd check for proper interpretation, that one word would be correct! This applies to both a word in your phonebook and to the word "phonebook" in the 9W7's own help menu which the system speaks upon your request (by saying, "HELP" at various times in the dialog you can have with the system).
I have the entry "Home Phone" in my phonebook. The 9W7 speaks this as, "Home Phon-ee." The word "Home" is spoken correctly. Also, I have a phonebook entry for the name "Hope" which is pronounced correctly. I've even experimented with the word "Hone", and it is spoken with a silent "e". Likewise, the word "fone" is pronounced with a silent "e"..
-
NEWS FLASH!
OK...so I thought I'd try something that I've always assumed will not work.
Since the buttons overhead which activated the 9W2 bluetooth system do not function with a 9W3 module, I had assumed they would not function with the 9W7. WRONG! Yes, I've been wrong all along. The buttons work just as they did with the 9W2! Activate, mute, on/off handsfree, and the hang-up function all work using the overhead buttons just as they did when the 9W2 BT module was in the car.
The only thing in the overhead phone control panel that does not function is the amber/green/red light.
Therefore you don't even need a MFSW to work the 9W7 system. The voice commands can be activated upon pressing the microphone button overhead.
This is big news for some people.

Sorry this is just one for the UK guys, but went to test drive a MK6 yesterday and the options that dealer had was still the old kit, but looking at the configurator on the VW website it has the following and also just downloaded the latest proce list dated 19.05.10 and this also lists this
Bluetooth telephone For Bluetooth HFP (Hands Free Profile) enabled phones - 240.00
I questioned this with the dealer about the difference and he is said it is the option Bluetooth Touch kit that all the dealers have been fitting when the car has arrived as seen in the accessories brochure.
Is this correct or has VW finally done the update? I don't personally want to order it with the car and don't like the look of the screen stuck on the dash.
-
Here we now have 3 kit´s to choose from:
Handsfree Standard (BT HFP)
Handsfree Plus (BT HFP, Voice control)
Handsfree Premium (BT RSAP, voice control).
Want a HFP one myself, but dealer wont retrofit them so waiting for them to be available online and a mounting guide :-)

I just bought two new Samsung phones. They both work great on the VW premium bluetooth. Add these to the list of compatible phones.
Samsung Wave GT-i8500
Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 (I think this is the first Android phone that has rSAP)

Hi Mr. Timewise,
Can you tell me what coding you have on your 9W7 module and if you have seen anywhere that lists the coding options until Ross Tech create a label file for this?

Steve have you seen the new 3C8 035 730A controller :smug: it does every thing including showing sms on the rns510 and been able to reply via the rns plus its now Rsap and normal bluetooth which is switchable
There is some screen shots on the VWNavi forum looks far better spec than the 7P6 module

SMS on the RNS510 screen? That's cool. I get them on the MFD but it is very much hit and miss whether it works or not.
I would have looked on www.vwnavi.com (http://www.vwnavi.com) for confirmation but I'm not sure if it has been hacked. It seems to load then goes to some Justin Beiber video. Can someone check it for me please?

Cheers Neil. In firefox the window moves all over the screen and when I attempt to close it I then get all the lyrics!!!
I had literally just opened my messenger services so I can send to other PC's in the house using the "net send" protocol so thought it was my end.
Thanks again.

Looks like the SMS functions only work in RSAP mode.
So will probably just stick with my 9W7 as I don't have an RSAP compatible phone.

One to add to the list, the Samsung Galaxy S2. Top quality phone and it paired first time with my 59 Reg Golf GTI with premium bluetooth. i.e. I think this is the "older" module that is not iphone compatible.
