we use a wheel tree to store our wheels when not in use, similar to this one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Formula-523585-Original-Wheel-Cover/dp/B003154A3Y/ref=pd_lpo_263_t_2/259-7284663-8521007?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B003154A3Y&pd_rd_r=c07905e3-4cba-4250-9ae6-f8779ea5dfd4&pd_rd_w=ItiJL&pd_rd_wg=f6TKL&pf_rd_p=7b8e3b03-1439-4489-abd4-4a138cf4eca6&pf_rd_r=N6DW3KB3FQD185YNG8AC&psc=1&refRID=N6DW3KB3FQD185YNG8AC

Forgive me I'm new to this, what happens to your wheels if you stack them just one on top of the other for months at a time? Didn't even know these were a thing but then again I've never had to store a set of wheels before.

As long as the tyres are inflated to the correct standard, then stacking them on top of each other is fine for a while, just put a sheet between them to stop any metal on metal scratching etc

I was wondering why since swapping to 19" wheels the ride was rock solid, loads of tyre noise and my mpg had taken a nose dive

I was expecting a little firmer ride quality, a very small increase in mpg and maybe a tiny bit more road noise, but nothing like the changes I've experienced for 100 miles the new wheels have been on

Checked all 4 tyre pressures and they were set to 48 PSI!

Adjusted down to 41 on all 4 corners as per the sticker on the door sill and massive difference. Ride is perfect, feels solid in a good way, mpg back to normal and road noise is back to the same as normal

Probably should have checked the pressures when swapping wheels over, but my over excitement  go the best of me and I completely forgot

Productive hour or so adding a few touches, finally managed to get the footwell bulbs in place with a bit of a file (thanks Watts), put the doorsill protectors on which look decent and also added some more GTI branding with the door lock loops. They're pretty subtle but a nice touch I thought :-)

I do like the red lights in the trim, not actually driven when it's dark yet to get the full effect but had to go out and have a look at it all lit up, will have a proper look tonight with the new additions :-)

Finally got around to updating the Maps...
Tried twice with Discovercare but no go
Finally had to replace the files directly on the SC Card and success

in the greatest show of arsenal covering I've ever seen, Chris (mcmaddy) and I were at Costco watching the tyre tech take about 200 pictures of his wheels to prove original condition before he fitted Chris' Cross climates. The photo session lasted about 20 mins.

He stopped short of X-raying them.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Took my chances with the weather today to give the car a more in-depth clean, it's first since I bought it in February. So following two snowfoams and a wash, I went around it first with de-tar, then with IronX. I don't have too much experience with removing iron deposits, when I did my last car not much showed up. But on this car it was unbelieveable! Pretty much the whole car turned purple! It was so bad I think I'll have another go at it when I next get a chance, there's bound to be bits I missed.

Anyway, another wash then I gave it a go with my clay mitt, the paint at last felt really smooth. Then a hand polish which was hard going. Pretty pleased though as there was a rather long and nasty scratch on the bonnet which although is not 100% gone, it is much more difficult to spot. I'll perhaps give it another go soon. Then just before I was about to wax it the rain started, luckily not for long and very light so after a quick dry, just one coat of wax, some QD on the glossy black plastic bits and some Fast Glass on the glass and matt black mirror covers.

So, still to do, the wheels, another go with the IronX, another polish of the bonnet scratch and another coat of wax. Pretty pleased with how it's turned out so far but a DA polish will need to be done at some point plus attending to the few stone chips.
