Title: Hatchback interior trim panel
Post by: Exonian on 27 March 2021, 17:12
Excuse the dreadful quality of the photograph but I was being attacked by gnats in Aldi car park so wasn’t hanging about.

Am I missing something from my hatchback boot trim panel?
Surely there should either be a warning triangle or trim blank to cover the gaping slot?

It’s for a warning triangle....which you have to buy as an accessory

Funny, I was going to ask exactly the same question!

It looked to me like a panel was missing, it's far more ugly than just a mount for a hazard triangle.

Yep, I don't have one either and was meaning to ask on here if any of you had been given one.  I didn't even get a USB-C cable, so it really wouldn't have surprised me if the dealer had scrimped out on me.

I complained thinking it was a missing plastic panel and they gave me the warning triangle and a pack with accessories like a vest...

Probably another mk8 deletion for the UK Market....suspect in the fatherland its compulsory.

I’d imagine it would be compulsory in a good few countries.
Not here though!
Saves a bit of weight I suppose

Is now a good time to mention the M135i had a triangle slotted there, plus a full first aid kit in the boot and even had nice polished metal load lip protectors; if Carlsberg did semi-premium hatchback boots...

Do you think one of those large Toblerones would fit?

On the MK7 (7.5), it was a nice foldable cover for the warning triangle.

My son’s new A3 has a warning triangle as standard

Unlike the Toblerone it hasn’t melted in the warmer weather.

I haven't checked the Toblerone since I put it in there. Maybe it's OK

I wonder if VW UK add in the cubic volume of the vacant slot to the overall boot capacity published figures?

I've not got one either.  Just contacted the dealer to ask about it, as other than looking awful, there's wires etc that are clearly accessible through the gap.

Response:

That slot there is if you purchase the emergency kit which is an added extra.

Emergency kit comes with warning triangle, first aid kit etc.

Disappointing.
