HOW TO: Make your own electric window wiring loom
« on: 02 October 2005, 14:50 »
Electric window wiring loom. Can use this diagram for mk1's mk2's and 3 dubs

This will not light up the switches but it does work.

It shows a birds eye view of the back of a switch block. You can use the numbers for other volkswagens

I will try and make a diagram with a relay

Yep I can confirm this does work as I've got the same format for when I created my loom for my electric windows.

Your diagram is good but I would just like to add that I have fitted after market electric windows to various mk2s and mk3s in the past and have found that some aftermarket switches do not have the same terminal pattern as your diagram (which looks like the O.E switches ), ie the terminals are lined up in parallel ( one below the other ) .
They were the dealer fit kits but I think they were made by an Italian firm (and the insructions were not translated very well .)

Hope this info helps as some might get confused if they have got the switches that I have described . :undecided:

why won't this light up the switches? is it possible to splice into the blue/grey wire which does the lights? or any other way to get the lights to work?
