my old motor had full dealer history upto 60+k and then private after that. Did the servicing myself. However my new golf has fully stamp booked with fsh part main dealer part private garage. Now i am tempted to have it serviced at a local garage just so i can keep the book stamped as think this helps when selling the car, even though when i did work myself i kept all receipts and wrote the mileage and date when the work was carried out on it.

Reckon a FSH makes much difference to the re-sell cost of a mk4 given their age now?

Always serviced my own cars, kept up with the service record backed up with the receipts for the parts. Never had any problems re-sale wise infact only good comments on how well I've kept upto the vehicle. You can still advertise FSH

FSH only tends to happen in the cars first 3 years of its long life
