But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

well been thinking what to get started with next,

one idea is to get a loan of around 3k and have the shell welded/sprayed inside and out so its mint (thinking of a colour similar to this http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3187/2700463819_d8aaceb1d4.jpg)

then have the engine sorted, skimmed, flowed etc..

thoughts? :undecided:

Love that colour!

So after sorting the body on this car and getting a runabout, what else are you gonna do with the £3k?
Get an ABF fitted in the Mk1 ? That would suprise a few people at the lights.
You probably wouldn't want a much bigger engine in the front of a Mk1, too heavy.

i think for this year i will stick to the original 1.5 carb engine and have it all done to a pretty good show standard

1.8 20v or 2.0 16v running ITB's, some smoothing here and there, a decent respray and a phat set of rims

even if you keep the 1.5 carb and mint it, its going be

cant wait to see progress either way! :D
