Picked this up today with a bit of hassle
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/T_J_G/667ecc8e.jpg)
Bora TDI 130 with 68k on the clocks.
Came fitted with a Sony Bluetooth headunit (how I lived without one of these I don't know!)
Needs a touch of bodywork but that will be sorted in time. Looking forward to cheaper motoring :)
Future plans:
Give it a good clean
Fit mudflaps
:lipsrsealed:
-
should have bought a passat :lipsrsealed:
and yeah, bluetooth headsets are the way forwards
-
Really wanted a Passat Estate but (as you know) the ones I found were poop for the money. Wasn't actively looking for a Bora until this came up!
-
Great cars. My Dad has had 2 and rates them as amongst the best cars he has ever had. High praise from a man who's had a Lotus Elan, Lotus Cortina, Alfa Sud and Saab 900 Turbo to name a few!
Nick
-
looks tidy  care to explane the "bit of hastle"
-
Yeah, I went to phone my insurance company up to change the policy over. Only to realise they were closed today, so ended up taking a 1 day policy out over the net to be covered to pick it up :)

Tech - we will chat on Friday, need time to research etc...
Pointless update: received some aero retrofit blades from wiperblades.co.uk, who are a top company!

Answered your question on FB

Really wanted a black one like yours but this was the right price and mileage. I love how big the boot is!
-
is the boot on these much bigger than the golf ??
-
Yes! And it has a little pocket at the side with a net that big enough for a couple of bottle of Kopparberg, so they don't get slung around the boot.
-
Very nice bud love it :afro:
-
Today I have:
Fitted retro fit flat wiper blades
Washed, clayed and waxed.
Debadged the rear.
Photo's as promised:

Looks proper tidy! Needs lowering badly though. They seem to have a more 4x4 stance than standard Golfs. My Mum's one has a proper nose down stance!
nick
-
It is tidy until you see the other side. :( bit of damage on the otherside but price reflected that. Have got a quote to get it all sorted :)
Does need lows though, probably won't get them!
-
Looking good
-
Needs a new coolant temp sensor according to VAGCOM. Have to get the sorted, the MPG may rise even more!
-
Looking good! I'm a big fan of Bora's at the moment, defo needs lowering though :lipsrsealed:
-
This has been work in progress for about a month, due to moving house it took a backseat. But now I have a garage I cracked on with it to get it done!

Not sure on the future of the Bora :lipsrsealed:
Why :undecided:
-
Something else has caught my eye that I may go for in a few months. Gotta do some maths!
Put 1000 miles on her over the last week and a bit and he handled it very well!

It's all dependant on a few things. The bora will be here for a few months at least :)
Probably won't be VAG.

Back to chrome badge, looks better in my opinion!
-
Looks really smart mate!!!
-
Right the Bora got a treat. Got fed up with the velour blue/black interior that seem to collect all the dst. so picked up soon 'Sport seats' on ebay. They make it more comfortable and look SO much better. Fitted complete with matching door cards.
Not the best photo:
Now I need a matching arm rest lid! oh and an airbag loom as the plugs were different!
-
They look loads better :afro:
-
They feel a lot better and got them for a bargain! So result all round. Kind of re-kindled my love for the car and changing bits on itl!
-
Well gave the car a ol change today as it's done over 10k since I bought it a few months ago
Also bought some all red rear lights that will be fitted soon.
-
Atleast its being a wicked work horse lol has it been burning any oil ??

The gaitor was looking a bit worse for wear so swapped it with one off a Lupo GTI knob I had laying around:
Few things in the pipeline but got to be patient
-
Bora ist sehr gebrochen
-
Not just a flat battery then?
-
Is that my old lupo gaitor?
-
Not just a flat battery then?
Dont know waiting for RAC!
And yes Rich it is, the knob itself is a bit tired.

What's up with the motor mate?

Back home, left lights on was dead when I came back. Wouldn't jump/bump, waited for RAC who jumped it first time

Diesels don't bump generally as there is no spark.

Not to argumentitive but I've always found diesels an easy bump start. Dads old T4 used to bump easy even when cold when the starter went!

OK I was a bit vague. How about, totally dead dervs are harder to bump than a totally dead petrol due to the higher compression and need for hot glow plugs.

Yeah don't speak too soon... Has it had a really good run since the RAC Jumped it?

Bout 45 mins, wanted to get home as I was soaked. TBH I'll probably just stump up some £££ for a new battery anyway now winter is coming.

Don't waste your money, didn't it go flat because you left lights on, just give it a bl00dy good charge.
-
How was it this morning?
-
Absolutely fine, like nothing had happened.

Hmm I've bump started dead dervs before. Obviously any modern car is a b!tch to bump start from completely flat though. New Corsas won't, the immobilizer won't let it. That being said, you are right it's flipping cold out there!
As for cutting out, ECU lost all it's MAP settings etc?
Shoulda posted up, I've got a hefty boost pack, assuming you were in Kent.
-
I was in Maidstone, my mate came up with jump leads and a boost pack but we couldn't get it going. RAC had no problems though...
-
Bought these as they had 2 brand new tyres and 2 with only 4k on for no more than 2 new tyres that were needed.
Unfortunately they've been Dan34'ed so colour change is in progress!

Weird. I do have a very big jump pack though.
Shoulda put a post up. Always in or near Maidstone. What did the RAC use?

I was at work so had quite a few options and weren't as bad if i was at the side of the road. The RAC just plugged jump lead into the grill of their van...
New wheels yey!
Not as exciting as I'd hoped. But something to keep me busy!

New to me but had a set before!
Nope, they're going dark anthracitey colour. Or red primer.

So yesterday I sanded the wheels down and cleaned them up, ready for colour change day!
Primed:

My first reliable Volkswagen!
-
Bought with 68k 13 months ago, will clock over to 90k in the next few days.

How's the bumper shopping going? :lipsrsealed:
-
Which one? Mine or the other halfs? :lipsrsealed:
-
-
Glove box broke so I fixed it with two self tappers. Replaced broken catch on armrest. Spent a total of £5.
Due ANOTHER service  done around 97k now and still counting
Tell a lie, ran over a nail so had to buy a new tyre. Even though I had 4 spare safe keeping at a friends
-
100k milestone. Thas about 40k in 18 months
Still running well, really needs a wash!
-
Had to replace a worn bearing about a month ago.
Then this happened last night:

Followed by
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/T_J_G/photo-118.jpg)
And whilst I was waiting for Mr RAC I decided to pop to the toilets in the lay by to find one gentlemen with his sausage in another gentlemen mouth. I exited those toilets very swiftly I can tell you.
The pulley had sheared off the alternator leaving it half on there. Just got back from the 5th garage who have successfully removed it so I can rebuild the car tonight. Fun times.
-
After nearly two years of ownership and 45k the Bora will shortly be up for sale as I've managed to reduce my commute from 500 miles a week to probably 50 miles a week.
The old girl has done well and been relatively reliable.
-
What's on the car shopping wish list?
-
Nice bora!
