Well what colours do you like?  In no particular order, some rarer colours:
Royal Blue Metalic
Bright Blue Metalic
Metalic Black
Calypso Green

Someone is bound to mention Oak Green, but I don't think its as rare as these tbh!

Theres a Diamond silver and Atlas grey metalic, both very nice colours :)

You shouldn't really pay much more for a MK2 just because its a 'rare' colour, unless its mint.  But you would obviously be willing to pay more for a colour you like, over one you don't.

You like Royal Blue eh? Good choice, I picked mine up for £375, but it was a total shed.  This is the day I bought it, and is the only pic I've managed to take which captures what Royal Blue looks like, its almost black in some lights, and a deep blue in others. Very nice, and very hard to find pannels for :(

Yeah, Id never seen a royal blue until i saw mine on a forecourt, it kinda changes as you get closer to it as well - awesome in bright sunlight. Anyway i thought it beat black, white or red any day so had it!

you feckers you have to rub in the fact that my Silver mk2 was rare, and I should have sold it for much more than the paltry £700 I settled for.... AND it was mint.

I have a bright metallic blue Mk2 GTi on a late J-plate.

There were only 500 made in this colour on a H and J plate (so 15/16 years ago...) doubt there are many left about, I've only ever seen 3 others all at Ultimate Dubs last weekend.

Its the best colour for a Mk2.

royal blue looks very nice and i am looking to buy a mint one
as i dont want to spray or replace panels and want a golf
that looks stunning just from the tidy shiny paintwork

has or did anyone see a really blue golf at no rice last month
with bbs coloured with the bodywork. you could see it from across
the car park and every one thought it was stunning
