Not Good, Help needed :(

think this is what happened to guys mk3 on a fateful day van shopping. 

little lever on a spline drive inside the g/bos - accessable thru the round green paint lid thingy on the end of the box 

Cheers chuff I'll check that tmmorow can the finger be easily replaced?

Yep not that expensive.

sounds to me like your pressure plate has gone, happened to me twice now!
first time i didnt replace the finger so as it was rough it wore through the second plate!
new finger and plate were the only fix, also worth replacing the to bearing whilst you're there!
and mine gave no warning!

Did it go with a bang both times robz? I'm gonna get the clutch,finger and to bearing done I think,and clutch cable to be safe

yep, get it all done, biggest regret was i just did the plate, and it punished me by drilling another hole!!

Robz where did you get a new finger from is it vw dealer only? and is it called a clutch release finger,cheers mate.

Got all my parts from gsf mate! Good parts and good price!

So!!!!! cars been in the garage since 9am on monday morning to have a new clutch,cable,to bearing and finger fitted and up to this point they still have not mananged to get the driveshaft off the car! appariently its rusted itself into the back of the hub and where it goes into the cupling on the gearbox! they said yesterday they just soaked it in WD and left the car for the whole day and where going to give it another try today! GOODTIMES!!!

MK3 is all back up and running now and gear changes feel better than ever! the garage showed me the clutch and there appears to be nothing wrong with it at all  so possibly the fault was either the finger or the ta bearing but they both look fine aswell so cant say what was wrong but all fixed now.
