project:1.6 driver,aka the beast

1990 1.6 driver bought for the bargain price of £300
pictures of it as it was when i bought it.

very shortly afterwards the coiloves were bought and fitted in the snow :grin:

again very shortly after fitting coilovers(2 days) i had a small accident,was a patch of diesel or oil on a corner

decided i couldnt get rid of it so i bought another to use as parts

the repaires were all completed within a week and she was back on the road :smiley:

cue a set of matching wheels

then came the straight through exhaust system

after driving it like that for some time i found a set of big bumpers in the right colour  :smiley:

the a garage ripped my bumper off on one of their ramps

got bored one day and decided to try something

found a nice set of alloys for £30 so obviously had to buy them


then began the engine cleaning


did look very clean at one point but was very difficult to keep that way

few other things i have done to the golf
engine dumped all the water out on a motorway.temp guage went to 0 and engine overheated badly.
one swift engine swap later

stiil a 1.6 driver engine

also have fitted bucket seats and omp harnesses

front end as it looks now


as you can see i have gone back to the 8 balls and small bumpers


finally the fuel flap

Scrolling down this page is like watching a Golf2 descend into hell.

£10 says your accident was caused by your front end being a million miles out of alignment thus your car had no grip.

The whole thing is just  :sick: and the harnesses are  :sick: :sick: in particular.
