Poly bushes fitted & Wishbones seam welded , just going to clean them up a bit more & give them a quick coat of black Hammerite. Replaced the driveshaft gaitors & got the driveshaft back on & removed a stubborn trackrod end with some heat !  Its all going a bit slowly at the moment.
Just on the look out for some secondhand coilovers but quality ones.

Car is all back together now and attended a trackday at Lydden Hill this weekend, quite suprised how well balanced the car is,seems to give really good feedback. Got a few issues to sort as oil temps were upto 130 on the mfa ! coolant gauge was also indicating past 3/4. Oil surge problem aswell plus my brand new R888 o/s/f is now illegal ned some spare wheels. I won't bother with another trackday until  sort these issues but on the whole really pleased with the car.

Cheers Simon.

Original radiator?

Get a new one in.

You may find it'll cure both issues.

20 year old rads don't do a lot of cooling under duress.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

The rad does look like its seen better days but it doesn't leak prob just not very efficient like you say. Anyway i know what issues i need to sort before i take it on another trackday but as the wife has just spent £23k on a new car today i am a little short of money plus my M5 needs a few bits doing so the Golf will just have to sit in the garage for a few months before it gets any attention

Fitted  an oil catch tank and going to relocate the washer bottle to the rear but need a smaller washer bottle.

why not run the breather straight out the block into the catch tank? then theres no oily vapour going into the intake, you need to block off where it goes into the airbox and inlet though.

or are you one of those greenpeace types

loving the weld on the wishbones!

Not posted on here for a while !
The engine finally gave up last year on a trackday, the headgasket had started to leak causing the cooling system to pressureize and blow hoses and i spun off the track as the antifreeze was leaking over my rear tyres !! I had already bought a abf bottom end and ported head so bought myself an engine stand and  removed the old engine and built up the new one.
Bought myself a timing gun and gas analyser and set the engine up,runs perfect.
Did a couple of sessions at Lydden Hill 2 weeks ago and the new engine seems good, feels quite pokey compared to the old lump but i have got it booked in at Stealth Racing to see if they can squeeze some more power out of it with the WUR mod and will be interesting to see what power it is as its bits i've picked up along the way to build the engine on a budget e.g Hotgolf exh cam & lightened flywheel.
