Booked in to stealer for Wednesday. Car will now have to be towed there. Check engine light on. Cabin heat not working. Coolant temp at zero constantly. Oil temp not even registering anything. Stop start fail. Nursed it home from work today. Hope I didn’t do any damage.

If you didn't have a red dash warning, you should be OK. Yellow means get attention, red means stop and turn off.

Carbon VW, check your own "my message" box on this site.

I sent you email on 11 Jan when you first posted, covering what appears to be VW policy on this issue. I don't know if you saw it?

Engine running cooler than normal could be thermostat having failed/stuck open. FI then compensates for what it sees as a cold engine richening the mixture and the fuel economy drops away to sh!t.... Coolant loss/leaks normally cause the engine to run hotter than norm running the risk of overheating as the coolant level drops below the minimum.

Thanks club sport. Hadn’t seen the message. It’s the orange CEL I have. Think I will chance the 100km trio to the dealer Wednesday morning. She can stay in the garage until then.

Just a quick update on my problem. Turned out to be faulty temperature sensors. Dealer said that 2 temperature sensors were faulty and had to be replaced. Didn’t get any goodwill from VW Ireland but did get a span new (9km on the clock) Golf 1.6tdi as courtesy car.  :smiley:Nice car. I felt bad thrashing it on the drive home on the muddy roads. Collecting car on Friday !
