I picked my car up from the dealership completely unprepared and it had a small piece of clear wrap attached to the corner or the door shut. Is this clear wrap something that is only for transport or should it stay on?

It's a stone guard sticker fitted exclusively to 3 door cars.
Enjoy the exclusitivity while it lasts as it soon gets yucky.
I peeled mine off after a while, tiny bits of grit get under it round the edges.

Manufacturers seem to do it all the time now, it should stay on it supposed to reduce stone rash and corrosion.

Why make something resist corrosion better when you can just stick some plastic on!

I feel hard done by; I had a mk3 XR3 (non injection model), a mk3 XR3i and a mk3 facelift (mk4) XR3i and I never had these clear vinyl stone protection wraps on any of them!

It was just in front of the rear wheel, where the rear quarter panel bulged out. My brother in laws XR3 had the same. It was about 1mm thick on both.

I had them on mine - very soon you'll start getting grit sticking to the edges and underneath it where it pulls away from the bodywork.

Had them removed for about 10k miles and absolutely no issues with stone's being flicked up and damaging it there so I'd remove them if I were you.

Thanks everyone for the responses

On the other side it came with grit inside it from the factory. I'll get rid then, thanks.
