4 Inch speaker yes or no?
« on: 27 May 2016, 01:26 »
Hi.
question about the 5door mk5.

Im thinking of upgrading my front door speakers.
I have a 4 channel amp that i will bridge into two channels which allows me to
run a 150wrms per channel (when bridged).
Its actually a 90x4 amp, but i had some problems with it overheating and want to stay a bit in the safezone.

My first thought was to get a comp set from ground zero with a 16.5 + tweeter rated at 100w
combined with the 4" from ground zero (slim version) rated at 50wrms.

But then i started woundering if i really need the 4" speaker? what kind of difference would it actually make?

If i could ditch that speaker, i could actually upgrade my comp set to one at 150wrms which i assume would make quite some difference.

Should i ditch the 4" over more effect on the comp set, or stay with my plan A?

There is also a plan C...
That would be to use the 4 channel (non bridged) on the amp, 90wrms on all doors.
Front + rear. But its probably not the plan i should stick with

Secound question:
Could i use the stock wires from the door with a 150wrms setup?

I would go plan C, use the existing speaker wire and not get so concerned about output values :)
