Woohooo!!! Just got a call from my dealer this afternoon.  Finally, got an order number & a build date.

It's looking like Week 27 (1st week of July) with expected delivery for the end of July (this is for a White 5 door GTi with PP, ACC/DCC & 19" Santiago's - order placed on 29.03.13).

Progress at last!!!

"It's looking like" lol

Hahaha... Suppose I'll believe it when I see it!!  He could be referring to July '2014' for all I know

Nowt yet, but I was the first to order a GTD (no GTIs ordered to that point either - do they share allocation per dealer or are they independent of each other?) and mine is a vanilla model in a common colour, so hopefully there should be no good reason to delay it.

My official VW tracking is still showing my originally ordered colour of Deep Black Pearl instead of Tornado Red changed 2 days ago and I know the dealer inputted the change immediately, so the tracker is complete bollocks. My dealer has been told by VW UK that he won't get any further information regarding build week updates until Week 22 is upon us.

Seems pretty screwed up that VW are diverting building capacity away from ordered cars to fulfill demo orders. Why do that when the car is currently selling itself to the point whereby they've probably got most of 2013's orders than can be allocated this year already sewn up. A load of these in customers hand and getting driven all around the country is as much publicity as you could ask for with this model.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Just heard from my dealer last night.  My GTD has provisional build week 32, which must be some point in August.  This seems okay to me as I only ordered last week.

I've got my tracker number too, which works okay on the VW website (but obviously only says "processing").

I've said this before, having a car in a dealership is no match for seeing a car driven around.  Only people that see the car in the dealership are those specifically bothered to go there, IF they know its out - whereas when you see one on the road you are like 'ooh look the new GTI,' which gets a potential customer thinking (far bigger audience) and then they start researching the car, reading reviews etc.

The fact that the earliest anyone will see one on the road other than a test drive is end of July is such an oversight by VW, given their 'on sale June' tagline.  Then again, it could be said that as they've clearly sold their allocations up to it seems at least October then their marketing technique is working, so what do I know!  :lipsrsealed:

I think everyones will be provisional week 32 until the MY14 changes take place on wk 22. We should just wait until then as i think different info is coming from different dealers and vw themselves.

Just had a call, now week 28... So should get first or second week in August. As I'm putting a private plate on it I don't care about waiting for new reg!!

That sounds about right. Pretty much in-line with what I was told yesterday. I think we both placed our orders on the 29th March so it's all very promising.
