(Update Feb 2023 - had a bit of a spurt and I am actively tracking them down from often out of date adverts. Starting to add the registration number to prevent cloning of cars so reg is linked to unique number - if anyone can think of a bad reason for doing that then do let me know)

If they don't mark it up, someone else will and the hard nosed world of car retailing that aint gonna happen.

How many car enthusiasts will also flip at the sniff of profit? The two things aren't mutually exclusive.
When people placed the orders there was no precedent for overs on Golf so everyone took a risk that they might import more and do them at £200 pcm pch and have your Corsa in px.

The dealer is clearly responding to the market of overs not making it as it was there well before this car was on sale.
Are you assuming the dealer ordered it to sell for overs because the likelihood is a private punter has ordered it, registered it and sold it to the dealer or they have it on SOR?
Should they say no to it and let the profit go elsewhere, possibly even to a rival VW dealership?

You are missing my point, suppose the car IS registered to a punter who has decided to flip.
No VW dealer should have ordered without a customer name, some have lost their allocation trying to cheat this.
If this car is unregistered then I agree that's wrong but if the private owner wants out and offers it to the supplying dealer who they have used for years I honestly can't see the harm in it.
If the dealer offers them £32k and sells for £33995 and that buyer flips it for £45k is that really a better solution?
The buyer may have lost his job and need to sell and the dealer has to value it at the market rate or risk being criticised for not doing so

I don't think there are any areas of big business that are ethical that's why companies that are ethical make a big song and dance about it like Co-operative Bank and the Body Shop.
I realise it's futile trying to argue that the motor industry is ethical because it's far too competitive a market for them to prioritise that just look at dieselgate.
So I guess we agree actually agree in that it's not right, my point is that it's not exactly surprising.

My mate emailed over 100 dealers several weeks ago and 2 dealers came back to him regarding cancelled orders, 1 of these dealers were Drift Bridge who said they had a cancelled order on a black car, they also offered me a red one... the salesman hadn't realised we knew one another and proceeded to give us the same story.. at the point of paying a deposit we were told that they weren't cancelled orders and that we had to "bid" on the cars...
My friend (who's a member on here) heard from from another dealer and placed a deposit with them instead. I do believe there was a rabbit off somewhere with Drift Bridge..

I don't see any problem with Main dealers selling CS-S cars that were allocated to customers who either 1) do not wish to keep the car 2) or want to make a profit .... surely, it is better to flip through VW than an Indie like Redline et al - why should dealer only make £2k then see an indie make £5k - surely it's best for All CS-S flips to be done through the network and therefore controlling the market rather than some back street Indie - this is the only way to keep good relations with Porsche OPC and therefore allows the brand to market and also who gets future cars and who doesn't .... what I am against is VW dealerships selling/deposit down for CS-S cars to trade dealers - who are obviously just going to sell for overs ... this makes no sense and is/was happening with CS-S orders

How can you tell who is a trade dealer and who isn't? TBH in my experience most those you see at trade dealers are often sale or return cars from customers promised a profit anyway. Billy bob motors is friends with Rob who tells bob he has a clubsport s, bob tells rob I can make XXX if you give it to me - why not try it. Rob says ok if you can make XXX I'll give you XX and we may as well try it on for a bit.

I know because I enquired at another dealership about possible values etc and was told by salesman that 3 out of his 5 were going to trade dealers that he knew ... so as I said, it is/was happening - I was offered another car in black when there were 5 cars left available in uk - totally immoral to take 2 cars when enthusiasts want a car imo - so didn't take up the offer so someone else could get a chance

there's another 2 white ones heading to the far east via the same agent I've dealt with, so thats 3 via 1 agent.. This guy who has bought these 2 white cars, has a Lefarrari, an FXX, 458 speciale , an F12 TDF in his collection of 150 cars..

I watched that video carefully and you can just catch the blank next to the left hand heated seat switch which normally says AC so definitely no aircon. You'd have thought they would have made that clear as you can imagine the new owner assuming it's fitted and only realising when the weather warms up.
The ad also says it has 'adaptive cruise control' which of course it doesn't.

I own number 202, I got it from Pullman VW near Darlington.
I have noticed there appears to be far less in red or is that incorrect although the flippers seem to have the red ones for sale.
It will be interesting to see how values will go as they actually deserve to increase in my opinion as it's an awesome car.

So I’ve been considering buying one of these for the last couple of years....... started looking seriously in the last couple of weeks........ #180 Black with A/C is currently for sale in Hatfield area. It doesn’t appear to be on the list?
I’ve seen #215 Red without A/C is on the list and now up for sale. I believe one of the previous owners is a member on here; any history to share with regard to this car would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Peter. Their is another thread regarding this car further down the thread list. As me and other who have CSS and had CSS’s have said. Personally I wouldn’t buy one without AC. Having owned a white one with out AC I can honestly say that the negatives strongly out weigh the financial saving however that depends on your perspective. The good lady and I took a two hour drive up to Loch Lomond on a summers day at 21-23 degrees. I got out the car soaking and damp. I had to changed. You won’t feel the claimed 12-13kg weight saving and as per the advert no one actually knows how many were opted without AC. It is all here say. I hope that helps?

No problem Peter. As stated I’ve had two cars. One with and one without. The previous owner of my white one lost £4K on it because it was without AC. So if you are happy to take the risk then fill your boots. And the guy from Devine will be lifting at least £1 - 1.5k for being a broker of the deal. If you are happy with the car / deal then go for it you won’t be disappointed.

User ‘Turbo Candy’ was the previous owner I believe?
It’s on Cups as it should be and with only 1,500 miles on the clock I’d rather play it safe and trailer home to enjoy another day in the dry. I intend keeping long term and using sparingly. I’m fortunate enough to have a couple of dedicated work cars so no need to use as a daily.

Black roof was an option costing around £300. Black wheels (Pretorias) were also an option - expensive at £2,480 (May 2016 price) :shocked:, but the option was a bundled package of black Pretorias, DCC and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi slick tyres.

Any idea about the current value of the Clubsport S, in mainland Europe? Some are for sale but listed for a long time so difficult to judge the real value...
I see large difference between ask prices depending on mileages and mod's or not. I guess this makes sense...
I am looking to expand my GTI collection, hence the question :smiley:

Forgot my login, just got around to resetting it now :grin: no it wasn't, it's been wrapped, car is wrapped in clear laminate but it had a noticeable edge on the roof, rather than removing and leaving it unprotected I wrapped it in black, wheels are actually a set of OZ racing wheels, very similar style to the Pretoria's but slightly lighter, sets the car off nicely, practically the same as the autocar one as you mentioned.

I'm also trying to track down any previous owners of no. 242 WG66 VVH (never had a number plate change), a black 3 door a/c model sold by Murray VW Plymouth in Dec 2016. It was sold by Pescara Cars in West Sussex in 2017 and a dealer in Crewe in around 2019 when it had 4 previous owners.

Because of the potential for private sellers to make tax free money out of these cars they tended to attract more owners than usual sadly.

I bought one new in 2016 and had to sell it after 10,000 miles to help fund a house purchase. I bought another in 2019 with 5000 miles.
It has now covered 41,000 miles and might be the highest mileage CSS.

Cars are for driving, that's where all the pleasure is, especially a car as good as the CSS, miles of pleasure.
Really loved my GTI TCR, was sad to see it go, but moved on immediately the moment it disappeared around the corner on the trailer.
Cars come, they are enjoyed, they go, and given the type of owners of these cars, usually replaced by something else that has its own interest to be enjoyed.
If a cars my daily, it will be expected to do 7000 - 9000 miles a year, and if i am doing that amount of miles, i certainly do not want to be in anything that says A-Z there has to be pleasure in all them miles,
Not sure if there is any specific parts for a CSS, but if spend the money keeping maintained that would likely spend additinally to replace with new, there no reason it cannot be driving like new well past 100,000 miles, as many of the well kept MK 1-7 owners prove,

I’ve got an overall spreadsheet list for each of the cars I’ve built up, then folders by number which contains colours, mileages, past mileages at points in time, photos, videos, descriptions, previous owners, date registered all that type of thing.
So far I’m up to 103no. of 150no. UK cars fully confirmed and noted your at 75no.
I have got 3no. separate folders with cars I’ve not been able to classify yet which is by colour, so in reality have a lot more than 103no. logged that I will eventually be able to piece together but reckon I'm at 130no +.
Quickly then scanned your records against mine and see you have referenced 6no. I’ve not got but you have these listed with just supplying dealers so guess that’s all you’ve got which were;

Hi Damian, thanks for getting in touch, I knew I wouldn't be the only one. I've generally just logged the basics as there wasn't much else when the cars were new but in the recent spurt of activity I am trying to be more detailed like you as there is a lot of content on some cars.
Any info on 242 would be much appreciated. Apart from the VW history I have nothing before 2019 when it was sold by Nigel Dalley in Crewe so yes would love to see the images. As you can imagine I'm trying to build up a digital and paper file on the car so every little helps

The car has just come back from RaederMotorsport in Germany and has had brand new KW 3 way coilovers, Protrack 18 inch wheels running Direzza tyres,TTRS front big brake, Endless pads, Braided brake lines, Wiecher half cage, Special fabric Recaro Pole positions with Schroth harnesses, CAE short shifter, HJS ECE Downpipe, Wagner intercooler, and 034 Turbo Inlet. Currently in standard tune. Car handles phenomenally without being crashy over undulations. Love it!

No.235 is on my radar as well.I see it used to be owned by DTUK (Forum Supporter on here).So i don't know the number of owners or if it's been tuned at any point.

Andrew didn't have it very long. He kept telling me he was keepng that one and sold his white ones. Then i was told he had sold 235. I would have bought it from him back then if he had said at the time.

With used car prices having been stratospheric over the past 3 years or so (seem to have normalised now) and the Clubsport S being a desirable car, some of those owners may have just bought it with the objective of flipping it to make a profit rather than using it.

Totally agree.It's seems well priced,A1 history and a clean MOT history (apart from the odd tyre wear here and there).Probably just the time of year stopping it from being snapped up.

Condition, condition, condition, always buy on condition.
Imo the black no.152 sounds better, mostly because the red 235 is just that bit too close to Birmingham, but also lower owners will help retain value better for these cars.
But also given the price of these cars and what they are, I'd actually request to take it/them to VW for an inspection including running the paint gauge over them.
