well well. i really should listen to those with greater knowledge.

ran some hot water and dropped the rear quarter seal in there with a bit of washing up liquid for added lubrication.

left it to warm up for a minute or so and it easily stretched onto the glass. bingo.

feel pretty crappy today so did very little again. fitted the rear quarter glass. very simple when you know how but took a bit of figuring out. anyway, its in now and the car looks a little bit less sorry for itself.

nothing really left to do now untill the body man is back off his holiday.

engine is going to get swapped at some point but not sure when. really dont fancy that tonight!

Good work!

great stuff!

my doors need adjusting as the gap between the n/s/f and n/s/r doors is wider at the top than bottom. did you adjust the position of the latch or the striker pin?

I don't think a semi will give the same results

Cheers for the comments chaps. My idea is a geeky colour and number of doors and trick wheels.

As for the alignment it was a bit of both. Rear door needed the striker plate adjusting. If i did that on the front then it would have forced the door into an awkward position and make it difficult to open and close the door if  you get me. For that door i put a jack under the corner of the door to take the weight. Loosened off the 2 bolts that hold the door to the body and very gently used the jack to raise the door. Tighten the bolts, check gap. Repeat. Then adjust striker plate if there's any in it.

Takes ages but gives a lovely warm glowy feeling when you've made an improvement.

good luck. just try and avoid the temptation to "make it have it" using the latch position.

and be really patient!

Well, i'm about to go over budget! The paint guy has had a look at the car and i now realise there's no point in trying to patch things up, we are going for a full respray. Its going to his unit next week. Hope this is the right decision
