Engine management code help
« on: 15 May 2017, 13:40 »
Hi again, my car has infamously thrown another hissy fit, SO after a month or so of driving fine I got my stuttering back again at high load. Ive read with my Memoscan that has given me these code; P0117, P0420 (I have decat), P0321 & P0322. I have changed the crank & cam sensors already once after lots of issues similar to this, then I had a boost issue & I have changed the MAP sensor which cured this completely, and its all started again, any suggestions?

I found a replacement coolant sensor but could that cause power loss?? I've also notice it only does it at 3000 revs and up

Is the car mapped??  Have you fitted the decat since owning the car?

No it's not mapped & yes it has been done since owning it

Also I've noticed that the power loss occurs at 3,000 Revs and over, under this it still pulls fine?

A decat can cause all of that? I had this issue before & changed cam & crank sensors which cured it? its been confusing me for me while now, I cant see a lambda reading causing all of this but am happy to be educated, Admittedly I did damage the wiring when changing 1 crank sensor but this was re-wired by a friend & ran fine, could it be possible water damage to wiring/plugs on the loom connector to the crank sensor plug?

Yes

The car is programmed for a certain amount of air and fuel. By removing the cat you have suddenly allowed a greater mixture of both but the car can only adjust so far

When you changed the sensors you semi-reset the ECU and the fuel trim levels. The car will adjust over time but again it's limited because the mapping is still standard

You need it mapped to allow it to adjust accordingly

Thanks for the info :)

For anybody who see's this in the future with a similar-ish issue, it turned out to be an issue with my crank sensor (I separated the plugs and water poured out) Dried & WD40 and it runs like a dream!
