Shell Super, Clubsport S
« on: 18 March 2017, 16:32 »
Let the fuel go down to almost zero and filled up with the Shell  expensive stuff, feel the difference almost straight away, still running mine in 523 miles on the clock and give it some beans now and then, so many Golf GTI /R  on the road and nobody knows that mines a special one, bit frustrating as i dont get a flash  of appreciation unlike  driving  the Focus RS 500, and Escort Cossie, but thats exactly  why i bought it for my daily driver.

Another thumbs up for V-Power/Optimax/Whatever they are calling it this week.
Only fuel we will use in the road car and race car.

Its a shame you dont get the recognition for the CS-S. The good folk of Cheshire love our CS.

I have only run V-Power in our R from brand new, never had anything else.

Why buy a performance orientated model and then not give it quality fuel.

I tend to put Tesco's 99ron momentum in my GTI. Have also used vpower and cannot tell a difference. I imagine the additives in the Shell one are better though.

Is it worth it in the GTI though as it's tuned to run on 95 RON? Have you noticed any difference against standard unleaded?

Every time vw driver do a road test on a gti or a turbo'd model they always say to use the higher octane fuel. It's probably worth it even just for the additional additives and keeping the fuel system cleaner.

You won't generate any more power, engine may run a little cooler, additional additives may help...

I have had two identical Civic Type-R's one ran on standard 95 RON Unleaded the other Momentum 99 RON Unleaded.  I could tell the difference in the sound of the engine after 3 months ownership on both since new.  The Standard unleaded engine sound a lot more raspier and tinny after 3 months.  The Power delivery only felt like it sparked a little quicker on the car running momentum 99 so slightly more poke but only minor difference between them on this point.  The main difference is the engine stays sounding cleaner and running better for longer during ownership and this was enough for me to continue using Super Unleaded fuel.
