where do i start

hi i am after help with a mk4 2000 plate gti.
car has been sitting since 2012.
i have completed the following in the last 2 weeks and still the car cuts out when trying to rev the engine.

full service
new exhaust
fuel pump change
injector cleaner
air flow censor
throttle body change
tank clean

if you slowly rev the engine it stays till about 4000 and its fine
as soon as you take your foot off and put it straight back it cuts out.

any help guys as i am lost.

I would suggest a thorough look at the vacuum system and all associated hoses/valves. Could be a number of things and the vacuum systems on these cars are terrible for leaking (assuming yours is a 1.8T, don't know much about the 2.0/1.8 GTI's they made).

Also - have you got a code reader you can run a quick scan with? Might help to point you in the right direction.

Assuming it's been sitting for this long things may have blocked up.

Step 1) Any fault codes? Which engine code?
Step 2) If it has been left for this long then it may be that something has blocked up - did you change fuel filter? Do you have sparks on the plugs? Do the fuel valve(s) inject fuel (take out and connect up and fire up with coils disconnected). Using fuel system or injector cleaner only helps if fuel actually goes through and you have flow!
