Those are the  words more commonly associated with Tombstones.

After such a long gestation including the "I might order soon but..." that seemed to drag on forever it's great (and not unexpected) that your relationship with the latest black beast in your life has hit the ground running!
A fabulous car (as mass produced family hatchbacks go) and a very deserving and appreciative owner, happy days Mademoiselle B!

Now Mr Ex, the "I might order...." phase only really lasted a mere 3 months, and it was more a "when will I order....", so no embellishing the truth

And well what are forums for but talking about cars we have, might buy, wish we'd never bought and/or will never buy again!

It might have been less predictable and more entertaining after all this time for me to say I really don't like the R.  But it would be untrue.  So I unashamedly and unapologetically sing it's praises to the rooftops because that's what I think (with some minor exceptions).

I do very much appreciate being able to have a great hot hatch. I'm really no more more deserving than any other owner, but it's very nice of you to say so.

Seriously thinking about getting an R in March. If they average 30 MPG that's good news. In my GTI I'm getting about 33 MPG in normal everyday traffic

Well it's only been a week but my average mpg is showing 25, which is better than I thought at this stage.  Did include a short/medium distance motorway journey, but also lots of congested city driving.  Should hopefully creep up, I'm expecting 27/28 in time but many seem to edge over 30 mpg.

As for the car - knowing what I know now, I would get one.

I am also contemplating seriously about getting an R.  I currently have a GTI Performance, which is great.  But after hearing about it on this forum and seeing it in the flesh on more than one occasion, I am tempted to also start seriously look at ordering an R next spring around March .  I just want to see if any news about the GTI Clubsport or R400 comes out first, then I will make the decision about which car I will look in to getting. But at present I am swaying heavily toward the R.  Saw one in the showroom last week and and it does look the business in the real.  Photos do not do it justice.

Averaging 30+ mpg is a pipe dream, for me at least! I've had my R about 7 weeks and I'm averaging 26mpg. I'd have been getting 33-34 with similar driving in my GTI. I think it will settle down a bit though after a while, hopefully creep closer to 28-29.
MK8 GTI Clubsport. Reflex silver, Estorils, and a few other bits.
