Any ideas what this is?
« on: 04 March 2003, 18:49 »
Took my bumper off today and found this floating around in there:-

Anyone know what it is and where its meant to be fitted? At a guess I'm wondering if its a sensor for the MFA ???

I'm going to answer my own question now:-
Just had a chat with a new member 'PeteB'. He is a VAG technician, useful guy to have on the forum :D. Apparently its a temp sensor for the MFA and he's seen it fitted to the Mk2, not seen it fitted to the Mk1. Still not quite sure exactly where its meant to be fitted but I'm sure I'll find a place for it with a little further investigation. Anyone out there with a campaign edition Golf GTI? I'll bet thats got it fitted. It'll be somewhere near the O/S front wing, headlight, indicator area.

Whilst I had the bumper and spoiler off thought I'd give it a bit of clean up. Its come up really nice:-

See that wire looped around the bumper attachment/chassis hole, thats that sensor

I have one on my mk 3 it is attached to the off side grill at the very bottom of the bumper if you look you sould find a little hole somewhere and the plastic clip at the end will pop in there.  Not to sure if it will be the same or similar on the mk 1s.  I thought it was where you can plug fogs in because you can pull it apart and the plastic bit at the end is just to keep the dirt out????
