Just got back from my first test drive of a MK6, I would say on the whole it is a good improvement over the MK5, definitely more refined and I actually prefered the engine note, more 'burbully'. Driving wise it felt pretty similar, i can kind of get what people mean when they say it deosnt feel as direct, but this may also be because mine has 17's and the demo had 18's.
A couple of things i didnt like were the crappy black plastic door/dash inserts, crappy plastic ashtray cover (mine's aluminium though i think later mk5's were also plastic) and i'm not sure i am a fan of the new Climate controls which look a bit fussy to me compared with the old Mk5 ones.
On the other hand i absolutely fell in love with the DSG gear box, it shifts so fast its unreal so that is definitely on the shopping list, as are the 18's for looks.
Just need to work out the best financing route now because on the whole i am sold.
