Pretty sure they're new, but not VW Genuine.
You could find a cheaper one in the scrappy or in the Classified section here.
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

it would be pot luck if i got one from a scrappy. i went to volksbits and they are charging £85 inc VAT

the one in brum yeah? best to ring them as they have different prices, they offer recon ones on a part exchange basis so they're cheap but guaranteed.

i pass carspares every time i go to the midsdubclub meets and never noticed it but there is a car spares just up the road from so i will try them first, plus would i need to take my old alternator with me or can i buy the new one and bring the old one back after fitting it

the way it used to work, you pay a surcharge (about 40 quid) and you get that back when you take them the mullered one.

make sure no little ribby bits on it are broke or any mount corners or anything.. weve had one refused at work after sending it back because one spline bit/vent bit on side.. was gone  :sad:
