from experience this is true..

I do house clearances, had a guy buy my collection of scrap crt telly's ( 15 of them ) for 30 quid a piece, with the sole intention of shipping them to Africa,

I dont know which part but he said he can make more than triple his money back in profit after shipping etc is taken out. Its all taken back on empty container ships..

I was speaking with my sister who is over from South Africa for a holiday about this, they get ripped off on any car! A new Polo the same spec as her BF's, brand new 1.6TDI cost him £5k MORE over there to buy and a new Golf is about £10k more  She wants to get rid of her new BMW 320d for a Polo 1.6TDI like her BF's because it's better on fuel and looks nicer, good girl   but can't because she has fines and can't sell the car until the fines are paid off

Hi Barry,

We have these citis all over in SA, It was the best selling "Budget Car" for many years. However the last one was built in 2010 and has now been discontinued.

Check the link out.

It is very easy to import cars to the African countries and the pricing seems correct.

However, South Africa have very strict laws and regualtions regarding importing of vehicles. It is very difficult for us to get these cars legally imported into SA.

As to the pricing (Taken form my other Post)

The mk6 R20 costs around ZAR470K which equates to approximately GBP37000.
The mk5 R32 costs around ZAR280K which equates to approximately GBP22000.

Now the MK5 R32 in the UK can be purchased for half that price or even less. And imported to South Africa way cheaper than buying one here and it will have the uniqueness of being a 2 door.

We pay R200K to R120K for a mk5 GTI were as on your side its approx. 5000 pounds.
MK4 gti’s we pay anything from R50K to 120K
Mk3 gti’s we pay anything from R20K to R80K
Mk2 gtis if you can find a good example from 20K upwards.
Mk1 gtis cannot find any…
