Had a long list and some spare time today...
First the good...
1. Cleaned idle stabilisation valve. Idles a little better now
2. Cleaned my Jetex panel filter
3. Changed the plates as the old ones were damaged. Pleased to see no rust at all under the rear plate!
Now the bad...
4. Jacked it up to change the DTM back and centre silencer for genuine VAG ones, only to find a full custom system fitted. Need a downpipe and front silencer now!
5. Tried to fit new a new heater cable. Got one clip off the old one. Cursed. Cursed some more. Got the other clip off. Cursed again. Fed the new cable through. Cursed some more... you get the picture... Took about two hours until I got it 'close enough'. Those clips are a pig.
6. While half the dash was in pieces I decided to go the whole way and try to fix my rev counter. Turns out the clocks have gone. At least I managed to break the remote central locking in the process!

Took the grille, front bumper and slam panel off and straightened out the n/s chassis leg using an axle stand and the self weight of the car to bend it up, did a bit of hammering to shape things up properly and fitted a new slam panel, all back together now the o/s front of the car is now the same height as the n/s and the bumper and grille looks straight at last. Gave it loads of waxoyl everywhere to preserve it. Just need to get the new s/h bonnet sprayed up now and it'll be well sorted
