Right as promised the first post, little bit late my bad, I've been busy!

I bought the car around a month ago now, It came with a few modifications which are, lowered suspension and a cat back exhaust system.

The car has 103000 miles on the clock. It came with a stack of receipts and looked very well looked after, I paid £875 in the end for it so overall, I'm happy.

Since owning the car the first thing I done was ordered a full service kit, Using NGK spark plugs and Shell's 10w40 Oil. The car runs sweetly although even after the service it seems to take a while to fire up. I check the dizzy and rotor arm and they needed replacing so that was the next step, after replacing these there was no difference in the time it took the car to fire, I now suspect it may be something to do with the autochoke.

After seeing the Opie Oils offer for a club discount I ordered a K&N induction kit, After fitting it the car seems to be pulling much better and it seems to have have made the exhaust note sound a bit more raspy. Happy with all the above progress I decided to start on the exterior I bought some Morrettes from my cousin for 30 quid they were cracked and in need of a spray, £30 later after giving them to my friend Barry Robbens they look brand new and it took me 10 minutes to fit them to my car, finished in Matt black!

All the above destroyed my pay pack this month along with other bits and bobs but I will be getting paid tomorrow, The next plan I have is to have a few spots of rust touched in and have the red pinstripe put on the bumper! :)

Heres a few pics of the car when I picked it up, Updates of how it looks now due soon!

Pictures of the updates coming soon!

Had a scare yesterday I turnt the engine over and noticed the tappets sounded louder than usual, I switched it off and checked the oil and found a oil leak under the car, It had lost a massive amount of oil and I started to expect the worst.

Turnt out to just be the oil pressure switch was completely nakered thank god!

I was thinking Ats cups, But I want to find something different.

I know this is starting to become a bit word heavy, My apologies, I don't have a smart phone or camera so have to rely on mates but I promise on Saturday there will be pics of updates!

Quick update the new exhaust system is blowing its bloody annoying and its coming from the two flanges that meet where the manifold joins the cat. Just had a crack at tightening the nuts but tiny trolley jack couldn't take the car high enough tightened one up and it seemed to help.

However I just discovered a nice big hole in the floor of the car, at least I know how the condensations getting in! Its under the drivers door and about two apples in width and one apple wide :P Shouldn't be too difficult for my cousin to weld... Will have pics of this work on Saturday :)

Haven't got no pics of the hole and the welding that's been done.. yet. What I do have is a few pics of after I washed her the other day and more importantly, The cars black trim especially the front bumper and rear bumper trim were grey/whitish very faded!

So I popped down to B&Q's and picked up some linseed oil, very recommend restored them nicely! Pics:

So the cars visible rusty bits have been sprayed.. That's the good news! The not so good news is that when the arches come off there is a lot of rot  It looks as though new arches are going to have been welded in  I am also unsure of the condition of the side skirt under the lower trim cover so this will also be have looked into! As bad as it is as long as its saveable it will be done I'm too attached to this car to get rid of it  Anyways as promise (not great) but pictures none the less:

There's more work to come in the following days!

A knock has developed somewhere from the front left bottom side of the car so will be investigating this and hopefully getting it sorted on Friday.

I've recently thought about selling the car again, I thought about getting a Scooby in January (the dark side I now) but I've been debating do I really want to spend that much money if I keep saving as I am I might even be able to move out woo. So the golf will be kept, Things do bother me though like the fact the rear arches need doing  But we will see what the future brings!

I've bought another major service kit, Oil, plugs, leads, fuel filter etc. Which i'll get done Friday I've put 20 K on her this year without missing a beat except the oil pressure switch. Clutch and brakes were done for my peace of mind :)

I'll get back to this thread about whatever the knock is!

Knock seemed to be the top mounts ! I've had them replaced as they were well past their sell by date haha. I've got some pictures of them newly fitted so people can compare if they like before the picture I don't think I have a pic of the old ones but before being changed there was about a 1 cm maybe more gap more than there is now!

Also had a new PAS belt fitted as you can see in the picture the old one was a bit knackered.. Also there's a nice friendly chap on the way round to look at the sills ;)

(http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n518/redbaron14/Topmountright_zpsbc82ed7b.jpg) (http://s1137.photobucket.com/user/redbaron14/media/Topmountright_zpsbc82ed7b.jpg.html)

Also another service pack 10 K since the last plugs so there due a change and of course oil and filter always the same combo from Opie Oils. Forgot the leads doh (will be ordering them)

So it's been more than a while now!

The cars been in and out of the body shop getting bits done and on the way for her i have some Porsche teledials, Spax coilovers and pressed plates as well as this more maintenance the track rod ends need doing. And have just solved and fixed a leak into the rear passenger footwell!

Managed to give her a quick clean today first day it hasn't rained in I dont know how long! ghe car is going 1.8t come march to a very high spec which i'll list at the time!

Anyhow in the meantime i'm trying to get in looking how I want it and preparing it for the power! compared to how it stared at the start of this thread I dont think its doing too bad, now has new rear arches sills and front wings too, no rust left woo.

Another clean. Had nothing but trouble trying to get the new alloys on the car! Wanted them put on and a four wheel allignment done but a few places did not want to touch them because PCD adaptors were involved  Didn't know this was such an issue with garages!

Anyway there in a garage now being fitted any problems there going to contact me!

Where to start... Kinda of  and kinda

Lowered the car on saturday. Finally have the Porsche teledials fitting right too theres the good part! woo.

The not so good part is I decided to do the lowering outside. The weather looked okay then as I came to the last side (front right) a bloody monsoon erupted. The adjuster would not move for love nor money and it took an hour it the pouring rain to get that one side completed.. In my anger I whacked the wheel on once done with a gun quickly and managed to round of one of the holes in the adapter great!

Moral of the story: dont get pissed off and do stupid things. lol.

Anyway I've got one picture of how I measured the lowering which made sense to me from the bottom of the thread each side to the bottom of the adjuster.

(http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n518/redbaron14/F48CF812-E539-42A1-A2F1-D153DBE68A3B_zpsojtysg9v.jpg) (http://s1137.photobucket.com/user/redbaron14/media/F48CF812-E539-42A1-A2F1-D153DBE68A3B_zpsojtysg9v.jpg.html)

£140 later new adapters are on the way!

Also I suspect the rear hub spindles need changing I bought some quality OEM bearings just incase although the bearing were replaced less than 10k ago with the same quality but there is play in the wheels dammit lol.

(http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n518/redbaron14/F48CF812-E539-42A1-A2F1-D153DBE68A3B_zpsojtysg9v.jpg) (http://s1137.photobucket.com/user/redbaron14/media/F48CF812-E539-42A1-A2F1-D153DBE68A3B_zpsojtysg9v.jpg.html)

Rears were done twice in this picture they were at 5cm from the bottom of the adjuster ended up going down to 4cm from the bottom. Betsy is sitting on 16" 205/45 I'll post some pictures of how she looks once she all tracked up and also once ive dropped the fronts a little more :)

Rear beam bushes being done tomorrow.. Maintenance Maintenance Maintenance Maintenance ...

Thats all for now.
