Title: The highs and lows of winter detailing! Pic heavy
Post by: Booth11 on 28 January 2017, 13:51
Don't you just love winter.......Jack Frost, cosy fires, toasting marshmallows, snuggling under fleecy blankets watching box sets........ahh.

Meanwhile, out on the winter roads......the enemy of the avid amateur detailer......grit, grime and salt!  Out on the driveway the car was looking a little bit of a sorry state, after a couple weeks of neglect, so time for a maintenance wash, a futile task at this time of year but it has to be done.

Before – wearing a cosy winter coat of grime and salt.

So out came all the  gear:

Raceglace Filter - DI water for all washing and rinsing
ValetPro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner pre-wash on wheels and tailpipes
ValetPro Advanced Neutral Snow Foam/lance on whole car
Pressure wash rinse
ValetPro Citrus Pre-wash used in snow foam lance on whole car
Pressure wash rinse
Wheel clean using Wheel Woolies and WoWo Wheel Mitt
Swissvax Car Bath Shampoo and WoWo Lambswool mitts
Dried off with WoWo MF Drying Towels
Mothers Mag and Aluminium Polish on tailpipes
Achem Hi-Shine Longlife Tyre Dressing on tyres

Then I revelled in its shininess knowing that in a few hours (or minutes to be more accurate, lol) it would all be on the decline again!  Sorry for all the pics but got carried away trying out my new camera!

A well cared for black car like yours looks stunning when it's clean Rebecca.

Feeling guilty now about my dirty car . A bit of a loosing battle at this time of year, but I am looking forward to cleaning it soon as I've just got myself a new toy (pressure washer!). Just waiting for my Autobrite foam lance to arrive

Thanks, they do look great when all clean, shame it's so short-lived, lol.

Thanks Watts.  I like a very clean tailpipe.

Yes it was a combined Christmas/birthday present.  Been without a proper DSLR for over a year, ever since I reversed into my tripod and knocked my old dslr to the ground, now doesn't focus properly.  Need to get it fixed and then sell it.   New one is a great piece of kit.

Thanks SRGTD.  Don't feel guilty, it is a losing battle, mine is now almost back to its pre-cleaned state in less than 50 miles!

Pressure washer and a proper lance make a huge difference, bet you can't wait to try them both out.
