Cheers JV for setting this up!

First up my Mk2 is for sale - Check MK2 Golf GT in 'cars for sale'.
So i came across this £150 banger in the local paper. After a quick trip to Shepton Mallet the deal was done and i drove the heap of rust home!

Its a 89 plate Mk1 Caddy 1.6 stinky diesel.... plans for the engine is to keep it a diesel but either Turbocharge the oil burner or supercharge?!

Anyhow, this is when i picked it up last week... (sorry about pics - taken from my phone)

It looks like crap now, but i got big plans!
Watch this space!

Got the Caddy home and spent all day Friday spripping the interior, pressure washed the shell and T-cut it all over. This way i could see the worst of the rust and begin work!

Next job....
A visit to panel shop and order up new drivers front wing (want Sprinter Vent), 2 new outer sills, and a rear drivers side wheel arch.

Also removed the front bumper, indicators, etc...

My mate bought some Leather VR6 Highline seats for his Mk3 Gti so he kindly donated me his old set of cloth seats... ive only just rested the drivers seat in for moment cuz i need to modify the subframes to fir the Mk1.

Ok, this week i have mostly been starting the work on the rust to passenger side.
~ Cut all old rust and surrounding metal out
~ Fabricated new steel plates and welded them in
~ Grinded all new weld back, seam sealed, and wax oiled underside of inner wing
~ Removed rear bumpers and Toe-bar using grinder (bolds were rusted so badly!)

Then rebuilt my strut using my old Mk2 struts and springs.
(the Mk2 struts do fit but needed to modify the bottom holes to adjust the camber).

(Check out that Camber!)

Also bought and fitted:-

New CV Joints and Boots
Top Strut Mounts and Spring Cup plates
New Wheels Bearings for Front

This weekend im going to start the drivers side rust, and maybe remove the dash.  :undecided:

Saturday 2nd Sept 2006

Started to cut away the rust on the drivers side inner wing.
Ground away all old seam sealer, waxoil, etc and removed the dashboard inside the car.

Welded new panels and plates to repair rust patches.

Also welded and re-inforced the drivers door hinge.

Started to grind back old rust spots back to metal.

She's still looking a bit sorry for herself, but it wont be long now...

Sunday 3rd September 2006

Made a start on the new Front wings:

Rubbed them down,

and sprayed them in White Primer

Next job is to spray the top coat to the edges i cant reach when the wings are fitted, and black schaultz the inside of the wings to prevent rust.

ok, Caddy is on its wheels and........... ITS FOR SALE NOW!!!!

...Basically, ive been given another |Caddy that is already on the road and it makes more sense to sell mine as an unfinished project.

Most of the welding has been done by qualified welders and engineers (me and my dad)!

The only things that need doing to get it on the road is...
Rear drivers side Arch needs welding
Drivers side Inner Sill needs welding
Respray (I have bought the paint)
Put back together
MOT, TAX

Job done!!!
