1.8t to 130 or 150 TDI?
« on: 04 October 2012, 21:55 »
Hi just considering swapping my 1.8t for a tdi and was wondering how much difference there is between the two TDI's in terms of power and level of trim ect, the 150's seems more expensive and less of them around and they look as if they are higher in spec, so whats the business with them any help would be grand

The torque/power comes in lower down in the rev range on the 130s. However, both stock are plenty powerful and great engines with decent economy. Spec wise, I cannot comment as I have no idea  Both have the same 'issues' as the rest of the mk4 range as well as a few DERV particular ones.

Both great with a remap. Either or I say  :lipsrsealed:

Defo a 130 imo. Remaps better than a 150 and deosnt have engine ( or atleast not as common)issues such as work cam shafts, turbo issues and boost pipes popping off. Cheaper insurance aswell. Mines running around 186bhp mark and still get  between 40-52mpg on mixed runs. Hits the 60 mark when on motorway :p

Because people with 130s have never had an IC pipe pop off?

Or turbos fail or suffer cam shaft problems....
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

Because no 130's have encountered either of those problems?

Pot luck.
