exhust smoke

150 ,03 plate ,
can anyone tell me how much diesel smoke  is ok to come out when in gears say 2/3 i know its hard to tell without seeing it.
i have not owned a diesel before

Would be very hard for anyone to explain in words on a forum.

A good place to look would be on youtube, if you looked for people on a rolling road that would show you how much or little it should smoke cuz that is proper foot down in 2nd and 3rd upto about 70ish mph
Search for something like r-tech rolling road day or something to that effect.

Cars will smoke a lot more on a dyno than on the road.

Why more on the RR Adam? Is it cuz it's aggressive acceleration or something like that?

Mine is mapped and recently was smoking like a beatch on the RR

So Nick said and on the dyno mine smoked a lot and on the road it dosnt.

Purely because of the load.  On the road you have gradients, dips etc so the car won't be working as hard all of the time

No smoke = no poke

For a non-mapped car you should expect a little puff every now and again but it shouldn't be constant.  If you have thick black smoke then chances are you have a boost leak somewhere in the system.

Remapped car initially should smoke but as the turbo spools then the smoke should clear as the turbo burns the fuel / air

If you can;t find any problems then you could also try some of those less smoke fuel addatives, a company called Wynn's are supposed to be quite good, Helfrauds do a few.
