Shoutbox/Chatbox that can be added to the main index.php of the boards (above).

So we can all talk quickly to each other instead of posting.

Give a couple good reasons why not to add the Chatbox?

It brings the user together as a community, and of course forum rules apply (links, language etc.. not tolerable)

I think you should run it for a month or so, see what the users think.

Just trying to make things better    I am an admin at another forum with over 100K members.

your picture is a great example of why a chatbox is a bad thing.

Nothing in that chatbox makes sense and people just talk sh!te on it.

Yea sorry that was a bad example.

My boards are quite quiet atm.

But I mean, I would rather quickly ask someone in the chatbox about a problem then start another thread. It gets rid of the "1 post answer" threads that clutter the forum.

99% of it will be utter junk, so for the very few examples of it being useful I would rather not bother. The old chat system we had on here demonstrated this perfectly.
