Turbo Options 1.8T
« on: 20 July 2014, 11:25 »
Ok so im in need of a new / refurbished turbo (K03 Hybrid or k03S) as the k03 is well just holding the car back, this question is manly aimed at the people who have bought turbo's for the cars.

What company did you get your turbo from? CR Turbos, Gap Turbos, DynamicTurbos etc etc
How much did it cost you and was there any problems?

Also am i right in thinking Leon Cupra have K03s turbos as standard?

Looking at a gt3071r next if I do upgrade, will be saying bye to 300 bhp/ton and hello to 400+ per ton, but more importantly lower Egt for sustained track use

Was offered gt3071r but just bought BBT would have gone down that road if hadn't already paid for BBT.

I think it just depends on each persons driving style, people say the gt3071 lags but it makes over 300bhp by ~4500rpm which in my eyes is fine I don't think I would want to be making 300 bhp any sooner for a track car. Plus when racing I shift at redline and the revs are still in powerband for the next gear. Admittedly a big turbo will have further costs associated with it I.e good manifold is around £800 alone which most would find difficult to justify.
