Big MPH and Active Staging
« on: 29 March 2014, 21:06 »
Here are a few tips for changing setting to get the big MPH into your MFD and also activate active staging.

I AM NO VAGCOM SPECIALIST AND CHANGING SETTINS IS DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

To get active staging or needle sweep follow this guide on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFfsHh3-ri0

To change the MFD display settings follow these steps. This may not work on every display

Once in vagcom go into control modules and you should see a screen similar to this

Select #17 instruments and it will take you to this screen

Then select coding -07 and you should see a screen like this

Select long coding helper as highlighted in red, and this will pop up

Select the drop down box for bit 4-7 which should be reading Great Britain or Europe setting and change it to rest of world setting. Once you've selected it click on exit at the top which will return you to the coding menu with the new coding to be applied in the new coding box, from now simply click do it you should get a message saying changes applied.

Turn off your ignition and I also locked then unlocked the car the restart ignition and you MFD should be similar to before but reading in KM so now you need to go through your setting and reset the units for MPG UK which will change your mileage back to miles. Then on the main screen you will see this

Simply uncheck the box for Alt speed which will remove the small KM/H display and replace it with temp, then go into MFI Data which will now have the option for digital speed simply tick the box to activate it

Once this is done you will see your speed on your display. And that should be it done.

AGAIN YOU CHANGE THESE SETTING AT YOUR OWN RISK, THESE ARE THE SETTING THAT WORKED FOR ME BUT MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE.

I couldn't find any definitive guides online to do this when I was searching just some vague info about coding so thought I'd post this up to help people out. Once vagcom is in should take more than 15minutes to changes these

Hope it helps
