could someone tell me if the head unit in mk4 golf(the gamma unit)is actually a blaupunkt,cos obviously it's got the 6 cd changer and i was wondering if i wanted to change the head unit,would i need to replace it with a blaupunkt head unit because of the cd changer.

It depends on the changer,  you will most likely have to change that too.
