Title: Wheel Spacer Advice
Post by: JB GTI on 16 March 2019, 17:42
After some advice/opinion from anyone who has fitted wheel spacers. I was walking back to my car this afternoon and noticed how much the rear wheels actually sit into the wheel arches. Got me thinking about fitting wheel spacers on the back. Not so bothered about the front looks that doesn’t look half as bad as the rear :undecided:
Anyhoo, after a little look online I am not sure what size I would need to bring the wheels to just inside the arches?? My car (Mk 7.5Gti PP) is not lowered and has 19”Brescia Alloys fitted. Looking at H&R Trak Hubcentric Wheel spacers and bolts from DPM Performance. I am thinking either 12mm or 15mm would be about right? Has anyone any wisdom they want to share on which would be the right size to go with please.
Thanks

I've had these fitted for nearly 3 years with not a single issue.
Fantastic quality and service from Italy

Where are you looking to buy your longer wheel locking bolts from? Or are you just doing without?

I fitted some last year and only problem I have is the amount of dirt my winter tyres throw up car. It looks like a long distance truck after about 40 miles. Mud flaps would help but would look crap. Next year I'm going to get some origin bolts and take them off over winter

This is a stumbling block at the minute as I won’t be fitting any spacers without locking bolts.

Thanks. I was thinking of maybe going 12mm on rears but 15mm doesn’t stick out too much. Thanks for the link 👍

Did you manage to fix your rubbing issue? I wonder if 10mm on the fronts would fix that. I'm in two minds whether to go ahead with spacers now as I don't want any issues, I'm lowered on Eibach Pro Lines just like yourself.

You can order McGuard in longer lengths

Cheers I'll have a look.

Yeah, if you Google 'fender screw mod MK7 Golf' it's literally a 10 minute job. All you do is remove the screw thats causing the rubbing and jobs a good 'un.

I'm back stock now though. The ride comfort on Eibachs is fantastic btw, only reason I took them off was because I was paranoid about prematurely wearing the shocks.
