yes thats what it was made for, in the uk we didnt get it but in euroland it was quite popular.

the inlet does yeah, but I doubt the airbox really makes a massive difference either way!

I changed the airbox in my mates 1989 valver from a small one to the later bigger one and it did make a noticable difference. However the 42mm inlet manifold does restrict the airflow hence a 50mm is a must in combination with the box.

The 50mm inlet manifold is already bought. Im going to pick it up tomorrow.  :smug:

I did not know that there are different air boxes on the GTI 16v. Here's a pic of my engine bay (taken by the previous owner. It looks much better now). Can you tell me if this is the large air box?
