Common opinion seems to be that Pagid offer the best performance brake pads for use on a Mk4 Golf, but they wear more quickly and produce more dust than standard pads >:(

A good option would be EBC Greenstuff, as they are a little softer than standard pads to give increased performance and they are said to produce significantly less dust than standard pads. These are what I will be fitting to my 1.8T soon as I can't be doing with cleaning those damned montreal 2 alloys!

Just got some greenstuff pads fitted on my mk2. I have had them before and never noticed any great performance change but the reduction in brake dust is unbelievable! Cost me a bit under 40 quid for the front set I think.

The standard brakes are so infuriating for dust, I'm out there every week or so scrubbing my alloys otherwise the dust buildup acts like it's been spot-welded on and is a b*tch to get off!  Does anyone have any suggestion for a good cleaner that will cut through the buildup effortlessly?

Firstly on the brake pad front found that front pads for 1.8T 1999> FR ?62 & RR ?32 from

www.hyperformancedirect.co.uk

they have said they will match or better if a lower price is found.

Secondly, tried turtle wax alloy wheel cleaner and still ended up scrubbing like a b!?@h. so give that one a miss.
