Horney's Polo TDI - 3 pot boost yo!
« on: 18 October 2009, 19:57 »
Yes you read that right I am now rolling in a Polo and it uses Satan's fuel. Even more disturbing it's a 1.4 has one cylinder missing and only 6 valves. It does have a rotary muffler though

Pics:

* Actually rolling on black 14" steels.

So how did this happen? Well Diamond Hell offered it as a swap for the Corrado and the appeal of 55mpg was just too good to turn down. I'll be saving approx £180 a month on fuel, tax and insurance and this is all money that can go towards the track car (and the wife I suppose!).

It needs the cambelt and water pump changing which I should be getting down during the next 5 days. Handles like a dream thanks to Koni top adjustables and a 40mm drop. I'll be winding the shocks up to about mid setting for the journey to work tomorrow for sh!ts and giggles.

I think this makes me officially middle aged, well as middle aged as I'll probably get.

Is it fast? In a drag race, er no. I'm stilll getting used to the tiny power band but if you keep it on boost it goes pretty well. Handles like a GoKart though so roundabouts will be a surprise for peeps.

As for a remap that's a maybe. I am tempted but this really needs to remain a sensible daily and I can do without it breaking down and stuff cause I've had the boost wound up.

had one of these as a courtesy car a few years back, nippy for what they are and a nice car to drive
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...
