Title: Mk6 Golf manufacturing locations

Hello,

I had a quick Google but can't seem to find anything about where Golfs sold in Korea are made. This is a bit of a esoteric request but does anyone know where Golfs, more specifically GTIs, which are sold in Korea are made? I'm looking at buying one on the relatively near future.

The VIN will tell you the manufacturing location

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 11th digit in the VIN should be the one to tell you. In your case, I'd guess that digit will be the letter K, indicating Korea.

Not sure if you even looked at and understood the link I provided, but it CLEARLY lists the place of manufacture.
Please re read my last post where it clearly indicates that I am not trying to PROVE that Keith got it wrong, merely suggesting that it SEEMS that what he posted is wrong.

I did INDEED. It doesn't list that GTI's ARE made in Korea.

Also note that from your link, POINT 11, 'manufacturing location' doesn't include anywhere in Korea.

See also my link to VW's own list of manufacturing locations. What do you see listed FOR Korea?

Thanks for that. Yeah, looks like VWs that are sold in this part of the world are built in China. I knew they weren't built here as, if they were, Korea would make more of a deal out of it.

I wonder what the build quality is like at the plants in China.

The mk6 was built in Germany, China, Belgium, Indonesia, South Africa and maybe even Ukraine according to Wikipedia. Maybe some even in Mexiko (estates).

As said before the VIN will tell you the specific location.
