Hi guys just wondering if these fit ok with new carriers? Or does master cylinder need swapping too? Cheers! (I did try searching but not much about on the 1.4's)
-
Not much point in switching tbh.

Well people always say best thing to do with modding is to be able to stop well, other night my brakes over heated and I wasn't even driving that heavy and the fade on them are horrific.. So for the money it costs, may as well! Still, anyone able to help at all?

I guess yours has 239mm?
256mm solids wont make a huge difference and personally I would look for a vented 256mm set up (mk2 or mk3 and more common on 1.8 vento and estate models) and you don't need a new master cyl, all should be simple bolt on too (If you struggle to find vented callipers, non vents are fine to use with the slimmer mk2 pads)

What size wheels you got? 280mm a possibility?
TBF the 239mm brakes are diabolical and after having one massive near miss with familly and close friends in the car I never trusted them again, coming down a hill off a slip road and the brake fade was AWFUL. TBF didn't realise what an impact 5 people would have on the brakes but they just faded and I didn't actually manage to stop, just went straight over the roundabout which no one was on luckily.
New driver mistake yeah but never ever liked the brakes after that. Stuck a 288mm GTI set up on and they are amazing.

tdi setup 256 vented ? still seems underbraked!
