To the car to Ats today for a regas as it was only £28 instead of £65 in a deal.
I’ve got no record of the air con being regassed.
The good news was there was no leak ( it had been working perfectly anyway) but there was no lubricating oil in the system.
They had never seen it before.

Is there meant to be lubricating oil in the system, or did you pay ATS £26 to contaminate your aircon system with oil?
How old is your car? Unless there are signs of a recent lubricant leak (housing stains) it seems like it's been running perfectly well without it.

Lol.
It’s a 2014. They removed what was in the system and put fresh gas and oil in.
It’s all computerised these days so the machine does everything for them.

Of course, it needs oil. 10 grams of PAG oil. Needed for the compressor to run properly.

Self Study Programme 208 is a good read for understanding how air con systems work.

I would have thought the compressor itself would need oil but you wouldn't put oil in the actual system.

It is a sealed pressurised system and the oil lubricates the compressor as it goes around the inside of the system. It is not a vast amount and it is designed to be in the system.
