Good choice. Long term average for me is 37 mpg. I can get 44 on 30 mile run with no traffic jams and not being tailgated by BMWs.

Just over 36mpg over the last 3yrs 9 mnths.
45+ is easy on a long cruise. 20- when having too much fun.
All without diseasal guilt though...

I've never seen over 40, but I am averaging over 35, over 10K of mixed miles.
Also having a lot more enjoyment, all the time, than I did with my GTD. The performance diesel is an awesome piece of engineering, but has no soul.

Same here averaged around 39.7 on runs with abit of fun inbetween that being said with usual work run that did to around 30 due to only bein around 9 mile round trip.
Being realistic people don't usually go for a performance car and query the fuel return to me it's all about an iconic car and of course th grin factor

Had 45mpg going from Midlands up to the Highlands on Normal mode including rush hour through Glasgow. Best long term was just over 40mpg.

I get about 36mpg long term with mostly A roads and motorway driving. On a long motorway cruise I can get 40+.
Short trips around town will see mpg in the mid to high 20s. This is on a pre-facelift Golf.

I have a short commute of just over 5 miles, in the winter it often drops to around 28mpg, in the summer 33+. On long motoway journeys usually 40-42. If I'm a bit more careful 45 is easily achievable. I have managed 50 on a couple of occasions on a longer commute of 18 miles, almost all motorway when it has been very busy and having to do around 50 mph. Really boring though!

Day to day true 35 to 37mpg. If you can be bothered to drive at a true 70 ,on motorway ,then 40 plus possible. Saw 44mpg when in holiday traffic doing a steady 50 to 60mph.

I'm getting an average of 32 in my dsg pp gti. The auto box seems to eat more fuel than a manual.
I do about 18k a year but I still can't bring myself to buy a diesel. The golf is a lot more efficient than my supercharged range rover sport or impreza ever were though.
