As my garage is not useable (long since converted into a gym), detailing out on the driveway can be a pain at times when you want to have a few consecutive days working on the car. So I've been looking for a temporarily solution and was inspired by a member on another forum whose recent mobile pro detailer used a marquee for overnight and weather cover, so..........I got myself one.

Yesterday I had some free time and thought I'd have a test run putting up the recently purchased 'detailing tent/marquee'. [emoji13].

Onto the inaugural erection of said tent. Put it up in the back garden (neighbours eyes already widened) and enlisted help of my trusty assistant HWMBO, as it is a 2-person job for sure. Took about 40 mins from start to finish, but now we know how it goes, will be quicker next time round.

Took a few pics along the way...

Ready, steady, go...

It begins...raising the roof...

And altogether....pull...

Extend those legs...

Zips away!   Let's make it a home...

And taking it down.  took 10 mins (one person job).  Left roof attached in readiness for next use.

Was a fun and useful exercise for knowing how to do it, how much time needed and at what point to drive the car under. I expected HWMBO to fall about laughing but he's now planning summer parties, lol. Neighbours may think we've killed someone, but small matter ;-)

Mad?  I don't think so.

Anyway, onto some detailing.....

Setting up this morning.....perfect fit on the driveway.

Let the work commence!

Decontamination day!

Washed and mid dry...

Dried off ready for decon.

Decon stage 1

Some of this

and this

and a bit of this - decon stage 2

followed by this - decon stage 3

Claying gear

Sandwich bag test - not much embedded contaminant left after decon stage 1 and 2, but still not glassy smooth.

Claying finished - sandwich bag test 2 result - now glassy smooth :-) Finally, gave the whole car another 2 bucket wash and dried off.

Time to attach the tent sidewalls, and pack up for the day.

All tucked up, ready for DA session tomorrow.

Tomorrow... DA day.  Sunday....seal and wax day.

Rebecca, That's a great solution to keeping the car clean and dry while detailing over a 2-3 day period.

Do you rent it out for others to use? My brother has asked me to do his car; it's too big to fit my small garage and will take more than a day to complete because the Polish hand washers have been let loose on it!

It'll be great for summer barbecues too (when it inevitably rains...)!
I would've been ecstatic with the finish you had prior to decontamination, looking forward to post da images

Haha, I would rent it out.  Shall I send it over.

I was a bit reticent about it at first but now I'm using it, it's an ace solution. Provided there's no high winds.     I've tethered and anchored it down for the night but will probably sleep next to the front door just in case disaster strikes!
