Agree 19s were a purely cosmetic choice for me... unfortunately I felt the standard 18s on the GTI facelift (Parkers) were a step backwards vs the Austins so the 19s then became an essential extra ;-)
I did consider changing the alloys. The Parker alloys may not be the most stylish, but like previous GTIs, they are distinctive. I see them as an evolution of the previous design and understand that some people don't like change. However, they are the 'new GTI alloys'. From certain angles, car fans will be able to spot the 'new GTI alloys' long before noticing the new lights, bumpers or exhausts and badges. Therefore, I have decided to keep one of the things which makes the car look like a GTI.
Plus - I'll save money, they look easier to clean, replacement tyres are much less expensive, they should be quieter, more comfortable, more economical, reduced chance of tyre/alloy damage, perform and handle better.
