The accident alert feature already exists doesn't it? I'm sure when I picked mine up my dealer showed me it but said it wasn't active yet.

This was available on the mk7 in the USA so its just us catching up.

I think it's a good idea for ring fencing the dealers when your car is in for service to see its being taken on extended and rather fast test drives.

Onstar is really common in the USA,  but it's a premium concierge service that costs per year..

Thinking that for all this stuff to be truly useful, you'd need a pretty consistent 4G data service. Probably available, if you cruise around in the south east of the UK all day, but not up here across the North Yorkshire Moors. I know where I'd rather be, though!

Just seen this little snippet as well in the latest price list (14 Feb 2017), in the spec of the SE equipment onwards

Now that does seem genuinely useful as the wife uses my car as well and hates the radio stations I also listen to. In the absence of memory seats in the Golf, would be really useful if it also extended to the wing mirror position (which I don't think would be hard to do). I'm 6'1" and the wife is 5'1" so she's always changing my mirrors when she drives the car and It takes me ages to get them just back as I like them.

We had an Audi S8 a few years back and that had programmed keys and when either of us would open the car it would revert back to the settings for the climate controle, seating position, radio channel, steering wheel and mirrors.

The amount of times I picked up her keys by mistake and didn't notice the seat moving when I was getting into the car and ended up wedged against the steering wheel. I hate technology, give me electric windows and climate control and I'm happy.
