Constant water leak
« on: 16 December 2012, 19:20 »
I just can't find it. I would say over a week of doing 600miles I will need to top up about half litre.
I've changed
Water pump
Expansion bottle
Water temp sensor
Water housing
And the little o-ring

I'm thinking head now as a last option

about 20minutes after stopping, take a look under the head tank. if its wet id say head gasket is giving up.have a look for old coolant staines too. again if theres staines id say the h.g is giving up - overpressurising the coolant system and blowing it out the overflow.
i think i love you.....

oh nice. theyre not actually too bad to do on these. hardest bit i found was disconnecting the turbo from the cylinder head. one thing i will say though is despite what everyone says, get the head skimmed. ive suffered a blown h.g twice within a year coz i didnt have it skimmed. had it done, then 6month kater it went again. i then did it myself after this, had it skimmed and its been beautiful and that was 15k ago with some choice parts and a remap since. oh put a new waterpump on while ur at it
