Anywhere cheap to get my apple car play unlocked in the UK. Preferably in the Lincolnshire area, but I'm prepared to travel?
Cheers all.

Does your car have a menu option for it but it says "contact your dealer"?
65 plate cars I can't remember if they had MIB2 or not (you need MIB2)
-
Yes you do need MIB2, but 65 plate cars should have MIB2. Manufactured after build week 22 2015 is key.
Something like this may do the trick, but the best way to be certain of what you're getting is to get it done at a VW dealer.

Thanks guys for all of the recommendations and advice. Yes, my car is a 65 plate but not sure of the build week.
There is an option for it and it suggests for me to contact the dealer to unlock it or whatever the wording is. I'll try and find out if it's MIB2, thanks

If you have the button and it tells you to see your dealer to activate, then you have the hardware needed.
You do know its not wireless right? Your phone has to be plugged in with a cable for it to work.
Wireless car play is only on the Mk8 (needs newer hardware than was fitted to the Mk7)

Brill!
Yeah I'll be using a cable to use it anyway as iPhone batteries are crappy, so my phone is always plugged in, that's no issue.
Cheers

Soon as you plug your phone in you can’t connect via Bluetooth, car play only allows one phone whereas Bluetooth allows 2, plus soon as you plug your phone in it switches to car play, and you have to switch back to radio/media/nav,

Not as familiar with mine as I was, due to not driving much since Covid, but you can use media and nav with Carplay connected. Just set each up, and then go back to Carplay. I use Waze (for the road hazard warnings) on the centre screen and the car nav on the dash, with whatever media I want on also.

Interesting, Android Auto switches off the standard Nav and I don't seem to be able to get it back on again!

You need the nav view set to the dash position, then go to Android Auto. Nav should continue to function there, while you do whatever you want with Android Auto on the centre screen.

Thanks, will give that a go..

You need to have the right USB port, or you can patch the firmware (you may need to upgrade the newest firmware)
