I got the car around the 15/03/11 - Leather, 18" monza, winter pack and a few other bits. (colour coded bumpers and skirts)

The car came remapped by angle tuning(removed).

Next job was to install the r32 brakes, makes a massive difference, would recommend these to anyone.

Then got a bonnet bra from America, but still not sure on it.

Things to do,
Whiteline Anti lift Kit
S3 turbo kit
THS intercooler
Anti-roll bar kit
Highline computer
RCD510 DAB
BBS LM Alloys
LSD
Full Miltek system, with r32 arse
(Will be things i have missed, I have all the stuff just need to fit it)

Should be all done by the end of June :D remap should make 340bhp

I will try update as much as possible :)

I set my self a small goal today,  install Evoms intake/ heat shield & Open air intakes

The day started with a normal looking engine.

I then went about stripping the engine ready for the intake install.

Intake installed with heat shield.
Took it for a test drive and the sound was metal, so was very happy :D.  Run vag-com, no faults so all ways good!

I then went about changing my vents for open air vents.

Should help with the heat soak!!
I might install the THS intercooler tomorrow.

Fitted my RCD510 With DAB today!

Removed my old RCD310, and started to test the RCD510
(http://www.myjunk.eclipse.co.uk/newcar/build/RCD510p1.jpg)
Noticed I could not pick up any DAB radio stations and the connections where not the same on the back.
Had a look online and found I need a different aerial and connections.
I modified my old connections by removing the casing off them.

I then stuck some tape on the back of the connections to make sure they don’t come out.(Temp solution)

Tested and worked fine, but going to get the correct aerial so I can pick up more stations.

I also need a new CAN Gateway due to battery drain.
I have ordered one off ebay and will reprogram with vagcom when it comes.

Well today was not fun!!  I had to change my CANBUS due to battery drain from my RCD510!

I had a look on the internet and found where it was located, directly above the clutch pedal!!

I started by backing up my CANBUS install list via Vagcom ( the nice easy bit!!)

Will add pictures here : P

After smashing my hand up I got the bloody thing out (PIC new V old)
Location
(http://www.myjunk.eclipse.co.uk/newcar/build/can2.jpg)

Then reprogrammed the new CANBUS, and started the car.  Dash lit up like a Christmas tree, saying faults with anything. :(

Did a full scan removed all the faults and corrected my errors.
Took for a spin, and cleared last faults, car is now happy! :D

Well i had 4 hours spare in my life yesterday,  so I thought I would install my THS intercooler!

The day begun by me stripping a few bits off the car and also removing the bumper,
(http://www.myjunk.eclipse.co.uk/newcar/build/icp1.jpg)

I then removed all the IC pipes and found myself a nice little boost leak in the process,  the stupid C clip and slipped off the connection and was sucking a small amount of crap off the road!!
( was so happy there where all going!)

Once all the pipes were removed, i had to remove the front panel!  This part was rather interesting. I had to balance all the rads with one hand while pulling away the front end!  Job done after a few magic tricks.
I supported the rads with some axel stands and went about removing the standard IC from the rad pack.

Then new V old!

Then i installed the new IC in place
(http://www.myjunk.eclipse.co.uk/newcar/build/icp7.jpg)

Then put all the back together!!   Witch was the easy part :D
I took the car for a test drive and she now makes a few more air sounds and also I can trash the car all day long with no heat soak!!

Next job is to install the turbo and full system,  Then remap :D 360BHP here we come  :-o¬

Well I have not updated this in awhile!!

I have not done allot with the car as I have had so many problems with my remap  It has been back and forth to AMD that could not correct the problem .  The remap has been removed and I dropped the car off to r-tech! So fingers crossed she should be rock and roll!

I can then get back into modding the old girl again

I never updated this ... but the remap got sorted out..

Info from nick him self....
.............

A bit of a task this Mk5 GTi with S3 turbo/injectors and HPFP.
The hard part was getting the fuel constant via the air flow correct so the fuel trims are within reason, and the injectors not dumping fuel as the turbo is spooling.  Step1 re-scale injectors on a stock map and set the rail pressure maps to work with the HPFP, this took around days of trial and error testing and logging.  Next step was to tame the boost and make sure I had full control, the first thing I noticed with running the k04 on the k03 mapping was that under load at higher rpms the boost would creep off the scale, I would ask for around 2250mb, the ecu would ask for the correct load and boost but becuase of the k03 n75 mapping being on a lower scale the n75 realted maps would allow too much duty cycle.  So it was another 2 days getting the boost correct and with in maps sensor range and having the n75 act for the k04,  it got the the point that the actual boost was running 200mb below the requested line... at this point I had safe control so time to wind the n75 up in increments to give a little spool up over boost which just clipped the 2580mb map sensor and fall back to the requested boost 2400-2300mb. Next task was timing nice and easy to get a base point as the S3 timing maps and scales fitted in place nice..   now just a matter of keep adding the timing in until the ecu started to pull back on the correction of the car stopped making any more power.

I have really enjoyed doing this job as I was taking a lot on doing it, but knew with enough time I could get it bang on. I had no aim of chasing peak numbers, just a car that pulled and pulled like a bitach to the red line.

The final result was 335bhp 310lbft @270.25gs..... £80 woth of fuel used on the dyno and road.

dont really use this much and is missing loads but i will show the final out come.

small update

Well I popped to r-tech for a couple of days for some testing to find out really what this turbo can do with WMI!

We started off by setting up launch control at 4k but it was abit of an epic fail, the car has way too much power and just sits there!  So I asked nick to have a look into limiting the power in 1&2nd to see  if we could get a good launch!  (still in testing)

The next fun part was seeing what we could get out of the old girl!   The car was producing good power 380hp/400ftlb but the turbo was tailing off so much at the top end!  (like normal)  So went about adjusting the actuator on the turbo .  We found it nearly made 50hp on the stop end! but you lose it down low but that suites me.

The next problem was we were getting a dip at 5800rpm then it would pick back up at 6200. Logged the LPFP and it was dropping to 3.9bar :(   So I got the latest revision from TPS “1K0 919 051 DB” + new fuel filter it was then holding 4.2 bar  so it is better but will need an inline fuel pump!!

Also just a fyi  the car made an extra 12hp and 10bhp just buy installing a new fuel pump and filter!  (might be something to look into?)

In the end we left the car with some more testing required, but this was the end power result!  Good show for a standard k04 and WMI!!

Must thank nick for a epic car :driver:
